Belt Scale System:
The Series 20 inplant Belt
Scale System:
• Specifically designed for high accuracy
or basis-of-payment applications
requiring certification by governmental
and/or regulatory agencies.
• The Series 17 Belt Scale System is
designed for plant and process
operations which either run at higher
rates of speed or require better-than
normal belt scale accuracy.
• Is designed for general in-plant
conveyor-belt weighing applications in
the most demanding industrial
environments.
• The Series 14 Precision Belt Scale
System incorporates our 10-14 low
deflection, full floating unitized weigh
bridge and our 61-12 Speed Sensor.
Both are widely proven on hundreds of
precision belt weighing applications.
• Available in 2, 3, 4 (as shown), and 6
metre weigh spans.
Certification
Thermo Ramsey’s Series 14 Precision Belt
Scale System is the most widely certified
electronic belt scale in the world, having
received its certificate of conformance as
issued under the National Conference on
Weights and Measures as well as
certification against SABS, OIML and EEC
Class 1 standards.
• Combines the time-proven reliability
of our 10-17 Weighbridge and 60-12
Speed Sensor with the power and
versatility of the advanced electronics
in the Micro-Tech 9000 Series
Integrators.
• The Series 17 is available in either 2,
4 or 6 idler versions.
• The longer weighbridge means more
scaleborne time and minimizes
alignment errors which translates into
better accuracy.
• The Series 20 combines the proven
reliability of Ramsey’s 10-20
Weighbridge and 60-12 Speed Sensor
with the power and versatility of the
advanced electronics of the MicroTech 9000 Series Integrators.

10-30-1
The Series 30 Belt Scale
System:
• Is ideally suited for applications in
processes involving either non-critical
or lower value, materials.
• It provides basic rate and totalization
functions which can be used for process
control and/or production output
monitoring.
• It is specifically designed for operations
where economy and ease of installation
are important considerations.
• The Series 30 combines the proven
reliability of Ramsey’s 10-30
Weighbridge and 60-12 Speed Sensor
with the advanced electronics of the
new Mini 11-101F Integrator.

The IDEA Belt Scale System:
Weigh Class Idlers:
• Continues Ramsey’s longstanding
tradition of providing high quality,
reliable and innovative weighing
products to the process industries.
• Modern conveyor scales are capable
of amazing accuracy, even under the
most severe operating conditions. As
with most things however, overall
performance is dictated by the weakest
link in the system, and experience
shows that this is most often due to the
use of inferior idlers.
• Its patented design is the result of
Ramsey’s experience in thousands of
belt scale applications around the world.
• The IDEA scale is specifically designed
for operations where economy and ease
of installation are important
considerations. It is ideally suited for
applications in processes involving
either non-critical or lower value materials. It provides basic rate and totalization
functions which can be used for control
and/or production output monitoring.
• Even relatively small misalignments in
the idler frame or imbalance of a roll
can introduce unwanted forces and
vibration, irrespective of how carefully
they are installed and aligned. it is
therefore highly recommended that all
conveyor scales be fitted with good
quality idler frames and rolls.
• Thermo Ramsey manufacture and
supply idlers and rolls that comply with
the best international specifications,
for all conveyor scale applications.
These units will not only provide you
with the best possibly weighing
accuracy, but will last for an extended
period of time.

• Ideally a scale requires 3 idlers before,
3 idlers after and 1, 2, 4 or 6 scale
mounted idlers depending on scale type
chosen.
For example, a 10-14-4 system would
require 10 weigh class idler sets, 3
lead-in, 3 lead-out and 4 mounted on
the weigh frame itself.

Ramsey’s Micro-Tech 9000
Series:
• Signifies a new approach to scale
instrumentation, giving the user more
flexibility and vastly increased upgrade
capabilities.
• Each electronics model in the series is
designed for a specific weighing
application: belt scales, weighbelt
feeders, impact weighing systems,
static weighing systems, batch weighing
systems or loss of weight systems.
• Because the Micro-Tech 9000 Series
uses a common platform, the user needs
to only become familiar with one basic
interface.
Model 11-101F
The Mini 11-101 Integrator:
• Is a simple cost effective micro
processor based integrator. It is easy
to operate and has a simple
straightforward calibration procedure.
• The Mini provides basic information on
rate and total and also has indicating
LED’s for Ready, Alarm Fail, Span Cal,
Zero Cal and Run.
• The Mini comes standard with a 4-20
mA output and has a optional serial
output for connection to remote
devices.
• IP67 (NEMA 4x) field mount enclosure.
Model 60-12 CSA
The 60-12CSA Belt Speed
Sensor and Drive Unit:
• Is the most reliable and accurate
speed-sensing device ever developed
for belt scale applications.
• Sensing belt motion on the clean
underside of the belt, assures an
accurate belt speed readout close to
the conveyor scale to overcome belt
stretch or pulley slip and correctly
match speed with load.
• The drive wheel is positively loaded
against the belt ensuring non-slip
contact at all times.

Roller Chain in Trough
Assized Static
Mass Pieces
Static Weight:
Calculation:
Max tph
= Kg/m
3.6 x Belt Speed
• Static Weights should be +/-60% of max
kg/m x weigh span.
e.g. for the following application:
Belt Capacity: 900 tph
Belt Speed: 2.5 m/s
Roller Chains:
Electronic Weight Simulation:
• Roller chain should be +/-60% of max
kg/m.
Comes standard with all Ramsey
Integrators
• Chain would typically extend to total
length of weigh area:
(weigh span + lead in/lead out)
ie. for 10-14-4 = 9m.
Factory set up to give +/- 75% of max
load
Use the same method of calculation as
in Static Weights, then in the example
given:
900
= 100kg/m
3.6 x 2.5
60% of this figure is:
100 x 0.6 = 60 kg/m
x 4m (10-14-4) = 240kg
Your choice is:
12 x 20 kg weights = 240kg
or
2 x 120 kg roll over weights
Chain required 60kg/m x 9m = 540kg.

X
2 x LC Sensitivity (v/v)
(2 x Rx / z) + 1
Formula:
Where: LC = Load Cell
z = Input Impedance
Rx = simulated Rcal in Ohms
# = Number of Load Cells
eg. for the following application:
500kg Load Cell
v/v = 0.003
Rx = 47 000 OHMS
z = 350 OHMS
• Installation
Note: for 4 load cells
• Static Weight Operation:
Automated
Air / Electric
Manual
z=
350 OHMS
4 Cells
= 87.5
We get:
• Simulates the actual weight applied to
the frame in normal operation.
500kg x 4
2 x 0.003 X

2 x 47 000 + 1
87.5
= 309.995Kg
