PRODUCTS A. Earthquake Resistant Ductile Iron Pipe (ERDIP), Fittings and Accessories 1. Earthquake Resistant Ductile Iron Pipe (ERDIP) and fittings shall conform to Japan Water Works Association (JWWA) G 113 and JDPA G 1042, JWWA G l 14 and JDPA G 1042, and requirements specified herein. Minimum tensile strength shall be 60,000 psi and minimum elongation shall be 10%. 2. Joint: Earthquake Resistant (ER) joints of NS type. Pipes and fittings for pipe size 20 in. will be supplied with mechanical type joint. Fittings for pipe size 8 in. will be supplied with push-on type joint. Assembled NS joint can be deflected to the maximum allowable angle specified below. The indication of ductile iron and ciass of wall thickness "DF* will appear on each fitting. AH ERDIP, valves, fittings and accessories shall be certified as NSF 61 compliant. 5. Mechanical Properties: The mechanical properties of pipes and fittings shali be as shown in the foilowing Table 6. Tolerances on Dimensions: Tolerances on wall thickness and length of pipes will conform to J W W A G 113 and JDPA G 1042. Tolerances on wall thickness and length of fittings shall conform to JWWA G 114 and JDPA G 1042. 7. Coating for ERDIP: 0.78 mil (0.02 mm) of zinc rich primer conforming to JDPA Z and JIS K 5552 with standard application of 0.49 ounce/sqft (150 g/sqm). 3.14 mil (0.08 mm) of acrylic and/or epoxy synthetic resin paint conforming to J W W A K 139. Damaged coating shall be repaired per Appendix B of this Section. 8. Lining for ERDIP: Cement mortar lining in accordance with J W W A A 113. Cement shall be Portland cement conforming to JIS R 5210. Lining surface shall be coated with acrylic conforming to J W W A A 113. Inside surface of the socket shall be free of mortar and coated with synthetic resin conforming to JWWA K539. 9. Lining for Fittings: 12 mil (300 microns) Fusion-bonded epoxy coating conforming to J W W A G 112-2004. Inside surface of the socket shall be coated with synthetic resin conforming to JWWA K 139. 10. Factory Hydrostatic Testing: a) Each piece at 500 psi minimum for at least 10 seconds. b) Fittings: One 45 degree elbow, one tee, one flange to spigot adapter, and one flange to socket adapter of each size and model at 700 psi minimum for at least 10 seconds. c) Joints: One joint for each joint type for each size used, including flanged joint, at 700 psi minimum for at least 10 seconds. Restrained joints shail not be externally blocked in order to test joint separation performance. Submit videos and/or photos of the testing apparatus and of actual testing in action for each fitting and joint test on D V D along with signed test certification letter to the City. The videos and/or photos must capture the pressure readings of the pressure gauge for each test to show the required minimum test pressure was reached 11. Flanges: Flanges will be of integral grooved face (GF) type and drilled conforming to ASME/ANSI B16.5, Class 300. Groove of flange shall conform to JWWAG ll4. 12. Bolts/Studs, Threaded Rods, & Nuts: A S T M A 193 Class 2 Grade B8M (AISI 316) bolts/studs and threaded rods. A S T M A 194 Grade 8M (AISI 316) nuts. Coat threads with an anti-seize compound to prevent galling. Provide stainless steel washers meeting tlie dimensional requirements of A S T M F 436. 13. ERDIP Accessories a. Accessories for pipe size 8 in. NS type push-on joint: Rubber gaskets and lock ring centering rubbers shall be of synthetic rubber (SBR) conforming to J W W A K 156. Lock rings and ami-deflection rings shall be of ductile iron and coated with fusion-bonded epoxy. Set-bolts shall be of stainless steel. b. Accessories for pipe size 20 in. NS type mechanical joint: Rubber gaskets will be of synthetic rubber (SBR) conforming to J W W A K 156. Glands shall be of ductile iron and coated with synthetic resin. Lock rings shall be of ductile iron and coated with fusion-bonded epoxy. Tee-head bolts and hexagon nuts shall be of stainless-steel. Backup rings shall be of polyamide resin. c. Accessories for flanged joint: Rubber gaskets for GF type flange will be of synthetic rubber (SBR) conforming to JW'WA K 156. Rubber gasket (type-1) for GF type flange will be used for the joint to vaive, blind flange and so on. Rubber gasket (type-2) for GF type flange will be used for the joint to existing pipeline. d. Liner: Liners will be of ductile iron and coated with fusion-bonded epoxy. Bolts for centering of liner ill be of polyamide resin. e. Spigot ring for cut pipe: Spigot ring for cut pipe will be composed of ring and connecting piece. Proof of Design Tests: Certified statements that proof-of-design tests were performed and all requirements were successfully met. Affidavit of compliance attesting pipe, fittings, valves and accessories provide in accordance with these Specifications. Operation & Mamtenance Data and Manuals. Quality Assurance Inspection of the pipe, fillings, valves and accessories shall be made by the City and County of San Francisco or its representative after delivery. The equipment shall be subject to rejection at any time on account of failure to meet any the specification requirements, even though submittal may have been accepted previously. III. Warranty If the successful bidder is not the manufacturer, upon request, bidder shall provide a copy of the manufacturer's written guarantee (on manufacturer's letterhead addressed to the City) that the manufacturer's warranty and service will be passed on to the City. Failure to provide this document within seven (7) working days from the date of the written notification may request in the rejection of the bidder's bid. IV. Shipping, Handling and Delivery (a) All importing, shipping, handling, and delivery costs in addition to all import duties and charges shall be the responsibility of the bidder. A l l associated cost being passed on to the City must be shown on the City's sheets on Bid Line 039. (b) A l l ERDIP, fittings, valves, accessories, and installation tools (equipment) and installation tools are to be delivered in their original packing and in the original shipping container. (c) The manufacturer's suggested equipment storage shall be placed on the outside ofthe shipping container when delivered to the Purchaser. Inspection upon Delivery Upon delivery ERDIP pipes, vaives, fittings, accessories and installation tools shall be inspected or tested by the Purchaser, or its representative, for compliance with these Specifications. Any ERDIP pipe, valve, fittings, accessories and installation tools found not to comply will not be accepted until deficiencies are corrected by the Vendor at no cost to Purchaser. Failure by the Purchaser, or its representative, to inspect or witness tests at the manufacturer's plant shall not be construed as waiving inspection upon delivery or testing. VII. Price (a) Prices must be shown on the City's Bid sheets, no other bid prices will be considered. (b) Prices must be inclusive of all costs to the City. (c) Prices must be exclusive of any sale tax. (d) If there is a disparity in prices between the unit price and the extended price, the unit price will prevail. VIII. Approved Equal If an alternate is offered as an approved equal, the bidder must submit technical specifications, cut sheets, and any other materials that will help to determine if their offer is an acceptable.
