Voting will close on May 29th 2015. Candidates for the Office of President‐Elect Dr Anthony Onwuegbuzie Professional Affiliation: Anthony J. Onwuegbuzie is professor at Sam Houston State University (USA), teaching qualitative, quantitative, and mixed research courses. He has had published over 400 works (h‐
index = 61), including over 300 journal articles, 50 book chapters, and 4 books. He has delivered over 750 presentations, 100 workshops, and 25 keynote addresses worldwide. Many of his mixed research works have been extensively read/cited, with his Journal of Mixed Methods Research (JMMR) article being the most read and cited JMMR article ever, and his Educational Researcher article receiving over 5,000 citations. His goal is to be a role model for researchers worldwide. Biographical Statement: I am honored to have been nominated for the Office for President Elect of MMIRA. I can offer several contributions to the role, should I be elected. A key contribution stems from my active relationships with mixed methods researchers in numerous countries and routine consultation on projects and provision of training in international settings. Therefore, I am in a position not only to enhance MMIRA membership but also to increase its diversity (e.g., nationalities, disciplines) and mixed methods partnering activities worldwide, including the formation of local chapters. Also, I plan to provide more benefits to members (e.g., free webinars). Dr Dev Paudyal Organisation: University of Southern Queensland, Australia Professional Affiliation: 1. Board Member: Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) Association Biographical Statement: Dev Paudyal is a Lecturer at the School of Civil Engineering and Surveying, University of Southern Queensland, Australia. Dev has over fifteen years of working experience at national mapping organisation and 10 years of teaching and research experience in Nepal, India and Australia. Dev’s research interests lie in the areas of cadastral, land and geographic information systems, land administration, spatial data infrastructures and natural resource management and on the way of exploring the scope of mixed method research in spatial science and natural resource management areas. He has authored well over 40 publications in the surveying and spatial science disciplines. Currently, Dev is the President of International Geospatial Society (IGS), Co‐chair of International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Technical Commission WGIV/4 and Board Member of Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) Association. President‐Elect Description Details about the office including duties and term limits have been extracted from the Association’s by laws and are included in this document below the signature line. ARTICLE III. BOARD OF DIRECTORS SECTION 1. BOARD OF DIRECTORS The Board of Directors of the Association shall be comprised of a President, a President‐Elect, a Past‐President, a Secretary, a Treasurer and three (3) additional Board Members elected by the membership. No person shall be eligible to hold more than one position as an officer or director of the Association at the same time. SECTION 2. QUALIFICATION, ELECTION, AND TERM OF OFFICE The term of a member of the Board of Directors shall be for three years and any member of the Board of Directors can be re‐elected for one additional term in the same office, except President, who may only serve as President once. Any member shall be qualified to serve on the Board of Directors. Members of the Board of Directors shall be elected prior to the annual meeting of the Association. Any Member may serve as Officer of this Association. Officers shall be elected by a majority vote in a manner consistent with that set forth in these Bylaws; the Student Board Member shall be elected by a majority vote of only Student Members in a manner consistent with that set forth in these Bylaws. The membership shall elect Officers by electronic ballot at the date and time set by the Board of Directors prior to the Annual Business Meeting of each year. This shall occur after vacancies and notices of the election date and time have been communicated to the membership in writing with at least 30 days’ notice. Terms of office are as follows: a) The President‐Elect will serve for three years, serving the first year of the term as President‐
Elect, then assuming a one ‐year term as President, and a one‐year term as Past President. Election of the President‐Elect will occur each year. In the initial year of the organization, both a President and President‐Elect will be elected. Any specific member can serve in the capacity of President‐Elect, President, Past‐President only once; this statement takes precedence over any other statement in the bylaws regarding terms of office. SECTION 3. DUTIES OF ELECTED OFFICIALS Association Officers shall perform all specific duties required by these Bylaws, and conduct the business of the Association in the interim between Annual Business Meetings, including authorization for the disbursement of funds by the Treasurer, but shall take no action contrary to the previous action of the membership. If the Executive Committee determines that a previous action is in urgent need of reconsideration, it may resubmit the issue to the membership in a ballot by mail or electronic means. SECTION 4. DUTIES OF THE PRESIDENT, PRESIDENT‐ELECT, AND PAST‐PRESIDENT The President‐Elect shall be elected for a one‐year term, after which the person shall serve one year as President and a final year as Past‐President. It shall be the duty of the President: a) To supervise and control the affairs of MMIRA and the activities of the Officers with regard to MMIRA; b) To convene the Annual Business Meeting and to preside or arrange for other Members of the Executive Committee to preside at the Annual Business Meeting; c) To solicit input from Members of MMIRA, using any means appropriate on issues of importance; d) To be an ex‐officio member of all committees; e) To perform all duties incident to the office of President and such other duties as may be required by law, by the articles of incorporation of MMIRA, or by these Bylaws with the utmost integrity and ethical comportment. It shall be the duty of the President‐Elect to serve as vice president of MMIRA, to preside in the absence of the President, and to carry out such other duties as may be delegated by the President. It shall be the duty of the Past President to serve in an advisory capacity to the President and President‐Elect.
