We are birthing new, award-winning programs and services that will change the face of early care and education (ECE) in Missouri. We are creating a new vision of how we “do the business” that is ECE, adding models that strengthen programs and improve outcomes for children. Why? Because every new babe who comes into the world reminds us that quality infant care is in short supply everywhere in the state. Every new infant born reminds us that, even where available, quality infant care is largely un-affordable, with an annual cost higher than for a college education. And now the joy of human birth is visiting us “up close and personal,” as one of our staff members returns to work after bringing a new child into our world. I watch this new family piecing together an ECE solution and am truly sobered. Even with the “inside track,” as an employee at an agency that provides child care referrals and consumer education to parents all over the state, our colleague is not especially advantaged in her search. All she and her spouse want is to continue their careers, comfortable and at peace with how their newborn is spending his day… and that reality is not easy to create. With the fresh, new, birthing energy of this season, join us in our invention of a new vision for ECE, by literally joining our latest innovation – subscribe to Show Me Child Care Resources today. No matter what your role, in no matter what type of ECE program, at showmeresource.org you will find resources to meet your needs. Tips, tools, and templates for managing an ECE business of any size are available alongside resources for the classroom teacher. Community chat groups give you a venue in which to ask questions relevant to you, and to gather the best thinking of your peers. Best of all, deep discounts on commonly-purchased supplies will save you more than the annual subscription… and then some! Come spring ahead with us! Sincerely, Dr. L.
