What’s New at Momentum?
Winter

We couldn’t have asked for a better day
on the ice– fishing, snowmobile rides,
hanging with friends, and enjoying hot
food and drinks in the SUNSHINE! A

please contact us! You can call the office or email us at [email protected] or [email protected]. Thank you so much!
-AnnouncementsThe eager and hardy Owl Pond crew was all in for this
adventurous trip! The temperatures were a balmy 23
degrees at night. Great sleeping weather and not a
single mosquito. The crew was positive, motivated, all
about setting up camp, ice fishing, stoking the camp
fire, snowmobile
rides through the
woods, camp
cooking, and
eating! Winter
survival skills are
great to learn and
be part of!

Moving forward,
Momentum will no
longer be creating a
newsletter every
month, but instead
every other month. This
change is happening in an effort to save
resources and reduce waste. You can help us
save resources by joining our e-mail list to
receive the newsletter electronically, rather
then through the physical mail system.
If you would like to receive the newsletter via
e-mail, please contact us!
Simply e-mail us at:

or
[email protected]
and ask to be added to our e-mailing list!
Thanks for helping Momentum save resources,
one tree at a time.

Our seeds are growing! The Permie Club has been taking good
care of them, making sure they have enough sunlight and water.
We did stray a little from just seeds and gardening this month to
talk about...Bees!! Gretchen brought in a dead bee hive, and we
investigated the cause of death. We learned about the life cycles
of bees, and how important they are for pollination. There was
beeswax and honey that we extracted from the hives!

ceanography Club is getting into full swing for another busy, fun filled season. We are assisting the
Maine Maritime Museum with their upcoming Lobstering Exhibit that will be open in August of this
year. We are currently grabbing buoys, collecting salty stories and taking pictures of fisherman that
will be featured in the exhibit. We brought our first donations to The Maine Maritime Museum on
March 3rd. We were able to meet the curator and tour the museum. It was so much fun!

HAMPDEN NEWS…
Special Olympics Update
Shout out to our Special Olympics
Supporters! Your help fundraising and
your presence at the games mean a lot to
us, you’re best!
This past month we had a basketball tournament AND a swim meet.
Our athletes have been working hard during weekly practices. Over the
next month we have travel games for both these sports… we will be
participating in the southern Maine basketball tournament for the first
time in April, as well as traveling to Bates for the state swim meet. And
we can’t forget our unified bocce tournament in Castine! We are
always looking for unified partners as bocce is near and dear to our
hearts, and we have several teams that compete. Contact Jenny or
Amie for more info!
