Ms Shearer says, “This feast also highlights community awareness to reignite cultural memory”, as she points to her heart, it’s about the importance of the natural landscape, about the
health of the river and riparian habitat. It will also enhance cultural awareness knowledge of
both event participants and those that are made aware of the event through regional, state
and Australia wide media.
Led by local Aboriginal organisations, produced by Moogahlin Performing Arts Creative Producer Lily Shearer, and facilitated by key artists Cheryl (Dinty) Crawford, Aunty Chris Burke,

Moogahlin is a professional Aboriginal theatre and performing cultural arts enterprise that is
strongly connected to community, and that inspires emerging and established Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander theatre practitioners to develop, create and produce innovative and
stimulating work. We give voice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories and experiences by developing and presenting distinctive, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary performance
works and events. We support emerging artists to get into the industry, and communities to
share their stories with respect to Indigenous cultural practices; to place Moogahlin amongst
its national and international counterparts. We aim to be a sustainable and well managed cultural arts organization that embraces innovation and change and to nurture a new generation
of Aboriginal theatre practitioners.
