A Message from our Vice Principal, Mrs Sillars:
As we come to the end of another busy week at Moorlands, we are delighted to report on the enjoyment
of the enhanced learning opportunities that are being provided through our range of curriculum
enrichment projects both within school and in conjunction with our sister academies and the local
community.
Pupil and staff commitment to learning in a range of ways is one of our strengths and we are sure the
children have been coming home with many positive recounts of their school day.

VE Day Celebrations in school
Well done to all staff and pupils for their participation in our VE Day commemorative celebrations
today. Recognition in true British spirit!
Getting ready for your Summer holidays: We have been asked by the government Public Health
Dept to share the following important message with you all.
“It’s really important if going abroad for summer holidays to ensure that the whole family is
properly immunised. With Measels circulating widely across many parts of the world, including
Europe & the USA, it is particularly important to ensure that children have received 2 doses of
MMR (Measels, Mumps & Rubella). Around a third (27) of all new cases of Measles in England
were infected while overseas. Uptake of pre-school booster, which includes the polio booster, is
below the levels required. With the recent international spread of wild polio virus this could present
a serious risk to those travelling to affected countries.”
The Bulletin
The week has ended with a respectful celebration of the anniversary of VE Day with wonderful
decorations and a true British spirit themed lunch and assembly. We were also delighted that a group of
children were invited to Barnfield West to attend a commemorative event in partnership with “Love
Luton”. They were accompanied by Miss Brazier who is a member of her local branch of the Royal British
Legion and attended the event in full uniform carrying her standard (photographs below). Thank you all
for your recognition of this key event in British history.

School Attendance
Thank you to our families for supporting our Attendance Policy. We are sure you
will understand that such matters are crucial to ensure consistency of learning in our
endeavours to support the progress of each child. The policy is available to view on
our website.
Year 3 supporting maintaining our school
grounds!
Whilst in Gardening Club recently one Friday
lunchtime, the children enjoyed planting new
seeds for their seasonality project in Lower
Key Stage 2. We are looking forward to seeing the results as the plants grow.
Year 5’s current
Creative Curriculum theme is based
on the Victorians.
They were recently
invited to attend
school in Victorian
style clothing to add
to the atmosphere
during their learning. We were joined by visitors from
the Victorian Schools Museum in Hitchin to add authenticity to the occasion. As you may see, a Victorian
Teacher registered our pupils, inspected….. palms and
nails, and taught Arithmetic, Reading and Calligraphy!
It was a great day that children and teachers thoroughly
enjoyed!
St Georges Day
Luton Young Sports Personality of the Year
Well done to all pupils in St George’s House on
their production & performance of their recent
assembly in front of an audience of family guests
and their peers in school. Their own ideas and
desire for level of public performance, supported
by their House Tutors from our staff. Well done
all!
As you will be aware from recent communication,
Nadeem Dalvi was nominated for the Luton Young
Sports Personality of the Year. We are thrilled
that he came 2nd in this category and actually won the overall event! Alliyah Omar
also won an award along with her local
Gymnastics Squad. Congratulations to both
from all at BMFS.

their “Pirates” Creative Curriculum theme, children came to school in character themed outfits to celebrate
their engagement in their learning.
School Virtues
As you are all aware, we follow a “Virtues” curriculum at BMFS, with a different theme being introduced each half term. Our virtue for first half of the Summer Term is “Confidence”.
“Confidence is the energy and belief that you have in yourself that if you use your skills,
knowledge and special abilities towards the goals you set in your life, you can achieve whatever you set your mind to.”
We welcome nominations by families when they see the virtue being displayed in action at home. Please contact
the school office should you wish to nominate your child.
