Thomas Moran, President and CEO of Moran Iron Works Inc., announced today the recent acquisition of the
former Nor‐Agg Company of Cheboygan, Michigan. Mr. Moran purchased the building facility and equipment
through Citizens National Bank of Cheboygan.
"This acquisition will help us retain business in Cheboygan County", states Tom Moran. "Currently we outsource
millions of dollars of manufacturing business to welding companies downstate. When Citizens National Bank
contacted me about the availability of the facility and equipment, I thought it would be a great opportunity for
Cheboygan County and Moran Iron Works. Citizens National Bank and Sue Eno streamlined the purchase process.
We are able to hit the ground running in a short amount of time. It’s great to have a bank like Citizens National in
the community that is vested in growth and opportunities for residents. I plan on hiring 8‐10 new employees for the
Cheboygan facility", says Mr. Moran.
Sue Eno, President and CEO of Citizens National Bank is also pleased with the outcome and potential for
Cheboygan County. Ms. Eno states, "In considering options for the facility, Moran Iron Works, Inc. was an obvious
choice, not only in terms of the physical plant but in the organization’s ongoing commitment to Cheboygan County.
The fact that 8 to 10 new jobs will be created in our community and the industrial park will experience a
much‐needed increase in activity is very exciting. Economic development is a vital component of the area’s future
and this demonstrates that Cheboygan has the key components for success; a willing and capable workforce,
available facilities and community support. Moran Iron Works’ model may serve as an example to other businesses;
encouraging them to reconsider how they might obtain supplies locally."
Founded in 1978 by Thomas Moran, Moran Iron Works, Inc. is a dynamic, flexible, fabrication facility that has been
designing, developing, and installing custom metal work projects for over 30 years. The main facility, located in
Onaway, MI, employs over 60 people. The facility is fully certified in accordance with the American Institute of
Steel Construction, Standard for Steel Building Structures, Simple Steel Bridges, with a Sophisticated Paint
Endorsement as well as being an American Welding Society Certified Fabricator.
