GRADE 12 ASSEMBLY AND SCHOOL LEAVING CEREMONY REHEARSAL WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 21ST. Students will be called
down to the large gym at the start of 2nd Period. Attendance is mandatory for all grade 12’s. Gowns, caps and important information will be distributed at
the assembly. Thank you, (Mr. Genge)
MUSIC CONCERT POSTPONED
Unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts we have had to post pone our May 26 Jazz Band/choir/Orchestra concert. We will be holding 2 concerts on
June 2 in the large gym. The first concert will begin at 6:30 (note time change) and end at approximately 7:30. This concert includes: Junior Band,
Intermediate Band and Senior Band. Students have been asked to sign up for one of the set-up take down duties. Please make sure your child has
signed up on line (moscropmusicdept.blogspot.ca) as we have an enormous amount of equipment to move. Concert dress is black and white and ties for
Junior Band and all black for the other bands.
Our second concert will begin at 8:00 and end at 9:15. Students in the first concert may leave at the conclusion of their concert, however all students in
the second concert are expected to stay until the end of the concert. Our second concert includes: Choir, Jr. Jazz Band. Orchestra, Sr. Jazz Band.
Tickets for both concerts are sold at the door - $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and seniors. (If you stay for both concerts you do not have to pay
twice!) Concerts are free for children 12 and under and for Moscrop music students.

GRADE 8 ANNUAL CULTUS LAKE RETREAT
The retreat is happening on Thursday June 11th. Come and enjoy a day in the sun at the waterslides! Forms will be distributed in your PE classes. You
can also pick up a form at the PE office. Payment & forms are due Wednesday June 3rd. Don’t miss out on this amazing trip. See Ms. McGinley if you

Commercial Painting and Decorating Ace-it Open House
On Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 7 pm – 8 pm students and parents are welcome to attend the Ace-It Open House at the FTIBC Training Centre. The
Painting Level 1 Class runs June 15th to July 24, 2015. Students will be able to complete all their Government Exams at the end of June and still
participate in this Ace-it Program. For More information about the open house and the Ace-it Painting Program, please see Ms. Wispinski in Room 313.

VOLUNTEER AT THE BURNABY TENNIS CLUB TOURNAMENT
What: 4 – 8 hour shifts doing the following: checking in players, kitchen help, and other general help
When: June 27 – July 5, 2015 plus an orientation approx. one week before
Tournament hours are 8am-10pm on weekends and holidays and 4pm – 10pm on weekdays.
Who: anyone who is interested! Great for 30 hour students looking to get their work experience credit. Go to room 313 to express interest.
EARLS - Are you looking for a job? Interested in working in the kitchen at Earl’s Restaurants?
Come to an info session at lunch on Tuesday, May 26th in room 312 and learn all about what this particular restaurant offers in terms of employment in
their kitchen.
All students of working age are welcome to come. No registration necessary but you can see Mrs. Dato in room 313 if you are interested or have
questions.
PAID SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITY FOR CAREER PREPARATION STUDENTS GOING INTO GRADE 11 OR 12
Are you a career preparation student that is organized? Self-motivated? Follows instructions well and wants to commit to working the whole summer?
Apply to be a summer school student monitor at Moscrop (2 spots only). This job requires you to be available for the whole summer, so you cannot be
doing summer school. Applications can be picked up from room 313, and are due June 5, 2015. You must submit a resume, your work experience
evaluation form, 1 teacher reference, 1 community reference to apply.

BBY SCHOOL DISTRICT, INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SUMMER PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
What: Volunteer to mentor in the Summer ESL Program for International students. Meet students from around the world!
When: Full days or afternoons in the summer for a minimum of 2 weeks and max of 5 weeks. July 6th to August 14th at Burnaby Mountain.
Who: Must be enrolled in a regular English course with a minimum of C+ average. Seeking outgoing and sociable people interested in peer tutoring.
How: Go to Room 313 and speak to a Career Advisor
SHADBOLT CENTRE FOR THE ARTS
What: Canada Day Celebrations, July 1st, Vancouver Symphony in the Park, July 12th, Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival, August 8th

2015 BEACHKEEPERS PROGRAM
Where: Belcarra Regional Park in Port Moody
What: volunteer doing scientific crab studies on the dock, educating park visitors about intertidal creatures such as crabs and sea stars; and explaining
fishing regulations and beach etiquette to park visitors.
When: shifts are five hours, June 27th to September 7th on weekends and holidays. Minimum 30 hour commitment required (6 five hour
shifts). Mandatory orientation sessions on June 14 and 21.
Who: Must be 16 +. No prior knowledge or experience necessary. Work Experience credit available for Gr 10 or 11 students, see your Career Advisor.
How: Pick up application from Room 313 and send to [email protected] DUE JUNE 6th.
ARTSPACE, ARTS PROGRAM ASSISTANT / SUMMER CAMP
Where: North Burnaby
What: Volunteer to help the visual and performing arts instructors during children’s arts camps and during birthday parties etc.
Who: Grade 10 or 11.

CITY OF BURNABY – SUMMER CAMP VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
