“Where is the Math Poster Project” is given to enhance the way students see math in everyday
situations. This project can and should be done with the help of a parent, but the student should do
the majority of the work! This project will count for two math grades.
Materials
One large photo (8x10 size) this photo could be straight from a magazine/sales ad, computer, or it can
be taken by the student/parent!
1 poster board (light colored preferred)
Markers/Crayons
Pencils
Glue (preferably a glue stick)
Directions
1. Cut out or take a picture (make sure that you can relate the picture to math).
2. Come up with a catchy title for your poster (using ideas from the picture may help).
3. Write or cut and paste your title to the top center of the page.
4. Underneath the title neatly glue your large photo in the center of the page.
5. Next, list words that relate to math on the sides and the bottom of the picture.
6. Try to make your words stand out by writing them in different fonts, colors, and
sizes, but make sure it looks exciting and NEAT (You must have at least 20
words)!
7. On the back of your poster make up and solve one word problem using an idea from
the picture. Hint: this would be a great time to use a few of the math words
you came up with to help you!
8. Write your name and date on back side of the poster in the bottom right corner.
9. Be CREATIVE! You can write your words in any angle or shape, use glitter, or use
the computer to find a picture. Make your project stand out!
Grading Scale: 25 points …Creativity and Neatness 15 points …Picture is related to math
& title at the top 30 points… For math vocabulary words and word problem on back. 30
points…student presentation & knowledge of vocabulary!
