The American Advertising Federation Tampa Bay
Chapter is pleased to welcome you to the 2012 ADDY
Competition. Admittedly this is a surreal business, but
it is truly one of the most rewarding on the planet.
Especially when the art of genius creative is allowed to
express itself openly.
This year we’re honored to host our event at the Dali
Museum and Mahaffey Theater because as two of the
nation’s finest establishments for the arts, what better
combination to honor our freaky ideas.
The ADDY Awards is the world’s largest creative
competition with over 60,000 entries annually. And
it all begins here at the local level. This year’s ADDY
Awards is presented through the efforts of a small
pack of volunteers. So let’s take this opportunity to
say “THANK YOU” to all those who made this freaky
event successful.

Thanks to our team of six judges from around the
country, three coming to Tampa and three judging
interactive entries remotely. We believe by expanding
the number of judges based on their areas of
expertise we have a show that is judged with balance
and integrity.

digital output. He has played a major role in bridging
the gap between traditional creatives and pure play
digital talent, developing existing talent into hybrid
thinkers, and educating account teams and clients
about brand impact through digital and interactive
mediums.
Before working with Euro RSCG, Shirley helped found
Mouth, a creative boutique agency in New York,
where he created work for clients that included Casa
Dragones tequila, The B-52s, Mahou beer and Robert
F. Kennedy Jr.’s organization, Waterkeeper Alliance.
Michael Shirley

Over the course of his career, Shirley has developed
notable work for clients that include Kraft Foods,
McDonalds, Sprint, Verizon, OfficeMax, Ford,
K-Swiss, Diageo and Sears. In June, Shirley was part
of a winning team at Facebook Studio Live-New
York’s Hack Challenge, a competition to find the best
solution to a marketing challenge benefiting the Gay,
Lesbian & Straight Education Network, in partnership
with The One Club and the Ad Council.

creative teams at a number of well-known agencies.
Prior to joining Blattner Brunner Inc. as vice president,
creative director in 1990, Ann served as vice president
and associate creative director at Della Femina,
McNamee WCRS/Pittsburgh. She supervised creative
development for such clients as Nestle’ Enterprises,
Stouffer Foods, PPG Industries, Alcoa and Pittsburgh
Brewing. Ann is personally responsible for the
professionally acclaimed concepts and writing for
Stouffer’s Lean Cuisine, Stouffer’s Pizza and Taster’s
Choice Coffee.
She was a vice president, associate creative director
at Ketchum Advertising in both Pittsburgh and San
Francisco, working on accounts that included Heinz,
Pittsburgh Paints, Rubbermaid, Hunt-Wesson Inc.,
and Bank of America. At Ted Bates, New York, and
McCann Erickson, Australia, Ann was copywriter on a
number of international
accounts including Warner Lambert Inc., BristolMyers, and Yardley of London and Coca-Cola,
Australia.
Ann has been honored with many national and
international awards, including CLIO, Andy, British
AD&D, International Film Festival, Mobius, as well
as local, district and national American Advertising
Federation Awards (Addy’s). The AAF District 2,
Crystal Prism Award, Silver Medal Award and the
BMA President’s Award. She also was inducted into
the Pittsburgh Advertising Federation Hall of Fame.
A native of the outback of Australia, Ann is a graduate
of the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.
She is a member of the marketing committee of the
Cultural Trust, the Pittsburgh Irish Classical Theatre,
and the March of Dimes. President Emeritus/Lt.
Governor of the American Advertising FederationPittsburgh Chapter, and presently Special Assistant

In Memorium
AAF Tampa Bay recently lost two close friends in our industry: Craig Neuman, a past president,
and Deanne Roberts, a past Silver Medal awardee. The advertising industry in Tampa Bay is a
close knit community and both of these losses will leave a hole that will soon not fade away.
At 26-years old, Deanne Roberts established Roberts
Communications. In the early 90s, she made another radical
decision to fully integrate her public relations agency with an
advertising agency. The move was so bold that many from both
disciplines – advertising and public relations – criticized her vision
of integration. Now, more than 33 years later, the model she
pioneered is lauded and is stronger than ever at ChappellRoberts.

As a fourth-generation Floridian, she was passionate about
building strong communities where business could thrive. This
entrepreneurial spirit, combined with her civic commitment,
was ingrained in many of her professional as well as personal

Craig Neuman died on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012. He was born on
April 19, 1963 in Tampa to Herb and Ruth “Cookie” Neuman. He
was a 1980 graduate of Plant High School, a 1985 graduate of
Hillsborough Community College in Electronics Technology and
a 1992 graduate of Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts in which
he was the Salutatorian of his class. He was previously employed
by Sound Advice, Centercom, Fox Channel 13 and CITV. He was
a Regional Marketing Manager with the Maddux Business Report
from 2000 to 2009 and the SmartPark Marketing Manager for
Verizon from 2009 to 2010. He most recently was an Executive

endeavors. Deanne’s vision inspired her to create bold new
creative and young professional organizations in Tampa as well
as statewide, including Creative Tampa Bay, Emerge Tampa and
Connect Florida.
Deanne will be remembered for setting the standard for
marketing, advertising and public relations professionals who
aspire to successfully blend professional as well as philanthropic
efforts. She will be greatly missed by everybody she touched.

Producer at Tampa Digital. Craig was involved in several marketing
associations and held a variety of Board positions, including
President of the Tampa Bay Advertising Federation and a Board
member of the Florida Autism Center of Excellence. On April 1,
2000, he married Collette Couey at Congregation Schaarai Zedek
in Tampa. She survives along with their 8 year old son, Jacob.
Craig enjoyed playing guitar, writing and recording music, filming
and editing videos and spending time with his family.
A special account has been set up in the name of Jacob Neuman
at the Bank of Tampa for any donations.
