Spring is here! Flowers are blooming and the weather is great
for outdoor fun! Please save some time for 4-H in preparing for
your project competitions.
4-Her’s, April 12th-18th is National Volunteer Week, please
thank the volunteers in your club for giving their time, talents
and treasures to “Make the Best Better” in our community.

County Contest Make-up/State 4-H Congress Orientation
I would like to thank all youth, volunteers and parents
who attended County Contest in March. If you were
unable to participate, we will have our contest makeup date with the State 4-H Congress Orientation meeting on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the 4-H office.
Make-ups will begin at 5:30p.m. and the orientation
meeting will began at 6:30p.m. Please bring a parent
with you for the Congress orientation. Please keep in
mind State 4-H Congress is May 27th-29th and Project
Achievement Day is June 19th.

Purple Up! For Military Kids
Mississippi State University Extension Service, invites you to join
us for the national “Purple Up! For
Military Kids” event.
April marks the nation’s “Month
of the Military Child,” a time to
honor youth impacted by the military. In celebration, Mississippi
4-H Military Club Program, part
of 4-H Youth Development of the
Everyone across the state of Mississippi is encouraged to wear purple on Wednesday, April 15th as a
visible way to show support and
thank military children for their
strength and sacrifices. Purple is
the color that symbolizes all
branches of the military, as it is the
combination of Army green, Coast
Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red and Navy blue.
4-H Military Club Program hopes
everyone will take this opportunity
to appreciate and celebrate these
young heroes.
Lowndes County Volunteer Leader’s Meeting/Training
The Lowndes County Volunteer Leader’s Association will meet on Thursday, April 16, 2015
at 5:30p.m. at the 4-H office. It’s time to elect officers. We will also provide training on the 4-H
Ambassador program. A meal will be served to say “thank you “ for investing in the lives of
the youth in Lowndes County in recognition of National Volunteer Week.

4-H/Dairy Poster Contest
The Mississippi 4-H Post Art 4-H Theme is : I AM
4-H and the Open Theme posters allow you to be
creative and use your own theme on a 14”x22” dimension poster (1/2 poster). The Dairy Poster
theme is: “Get More with Milk” on a full size poster. All posters are due in the
4-H office on May 22, 2015.

MSU Summer Camp Offers
Cloverbud Robo cs camp. This camp will be held July 6th‐8th, 2015 at Mississippi State University Exten‐
sion Service Building B. This is a half‐day camp from 8am‐12pm. On July 8th, we will have a parent/child

The School of Human Sciences at MSU is offering a Fashion Summer Camp 2015 for high school students.
You are an important source in reaching excellent students in your county. The camp was first offered last
summer and was very successful. Registra on will be limited, so interested students will need to make

Relay For Life
The Lowndes County 4-H will participate in
Relay for Life, which will be held on April 25,
2015 on the Soccer Complex near Farmers
Market from 1-8p.m.
All of us know someone who has been affected by cancer. As a mean of supporting efforts
to find a cure. The Lowndes 4-H volunteers
and youth are asked to make a small or large
monetary donation, which is due in the 4-H
office by April 17th.
In support of this cause, please represent
Lowndes County 4-H by walking at least
an hour during this event and wear a 4-H
shirt. Thanks in advance for your support.
