April/May Graduation Ceremonies—You Have A Choice! We offer four ways for qualified seniors to receive their diploma. Most families request the traditional formal ceremony at 3:30 on Sunday, May 17. Others may not want formality. Starting around 5:15 May 17th, we offer the second option. We will meet with any graduate who prefers a personal or private presentation. The third opportunity is at the end of summer school, when we hold a short ceremony for Seniors finishing credits. Finally, we will mail out diplomas for students who do not want any type of ceremony. Seniors do not have an unqualified right to participate in the formal ceremony. Academic requirements, payment of fees/fines, and good disciplinary standing are all part of the qualification process. Are tickets needed for the ceremony? Where do we park? Graduation is scheduled to be held outside at the stadium. If for some reason we need to move graduation indoors, the ceremony will be held in the air-conditioned North Gym, and we will use the Performing Arts Center as an overflow area showing live video on the big screen. Should we move indoors, tickets are only needed for early entry to the North Gym from 2:00 until 2:45. Between 2:45 and 3:30, no tickets are needed. Each graduate is allowed 5 early admission tickets. Parking is available in the west lot by the gyms and in the north lot by the tennis courts. Ground conditions permitting, we will also park in the grass north of the gyms. Spring Drama This year's Spring Drama is Thornton Wilder's classic Our Town. The play, about the fictional New Hampshire town Grover's Corners, was first produced in 1938 and went on to win a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It covers the time period from 1901 to 1913 and centers around the changes in the lives of two young people, George and Emily, and their families. Performances are May 21, 22, and 23 at 7:30 and May 24 at 2:00 in Room 200 at Metamora High. Tickets are $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for nonMetamora students, and free to MTHS students and students from Germantown Hills, Metamora Grade, Riverview, and St. Mary's. 2015 Fall Play Auditions Announced Auditions for next fall’s school play, Surviving Reality, will be held May 14 and 15 from 3:20 to 4:45 p.m. and May 16 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Incoming freshmen as well as current freshmen through sophomores are encouraged to audition. The show, based on the current reality television craze, centers around two very different families (upper crust New Yorkers and backwoods Kentuckians) successfully living together and exchanging “places” for one week. The producer, however, expects failure and throws challenge after challenge at the families so he doesn’t have to pay out the non-existent cash prize. This comedy will be performed September 12 and 13, 2015. Audition information will be available in Rm. 209 and online starting May 1. Students wishing to audition can sign up outside of Rm. 209 for an audition slot on that date as well. Any questions should be directed to the director, Kathy McCormick ([email protected]). It's time for the third annual Key Club rummage sale! The sale will take place at the high school on June 5 & 6. We are currently accepting donations! For large donations, please contact a representative from the club at [email protected] to set up a drop-off time. If you have a smaller amount of donations, you can drop them off at the high school or Heartland Bank in Metamora or Germantown Hills. There are cardboard boxes for donations located at the two main entrances of MTHS and in the foyer of Heartland Bank. Remember, there is no donation too small. Everything helps! Can't help with donations? Then why not help with the sale! We are looking for dedicated, responsible volunteers to join Key Club next year! Incoming freshmen are encouraged to help with the sale. They will be able to work with other students who share their passion for volunteering! If interested, simply email [email protected]. No matter how you decide to help, MTHS Key Club wants YOU to get involved with our rummage sale! Thank you for whatever you can do, and let's use this project to finish off an amazing Key Club year!
