SUMMER FESTIVAL AUGUST 21 - SEPTEMBER 6 ANGEL FIRE TAOS LAS VEGAS RATON 2015 There is much to celebrate at Music from Angel Fire. We are growing, and that is a direct result of the feedback and generous support of our loyal patrons from around the country. Thanks to additional funding, we are offering new things this summer: an expanded Young Artist Program, chamber music classes for our audience (you!) and deeper collaborations with school districts in Northern New Mexico. Outside of the festival, we are growing, too. In April, we launched the first annual School Residency Program. Four students traveled to New Mexico from the Curtis Institute to work side-by-side with students in the Cimarron Municipal Schools. It was an enriching experience for everyone and we look forward to this new tradition at MFAF. Finally, we are focusing on establishing a sustainable future, building infrastructure and growing our local and national presence. Please join us this summer as we gather to celebrate the music, the mountains and the many friendships! We celebrate American composers and music, as well as international composers that were inspired by our great country or wrote special works while in residence here. Dvořák’s iconic String Quartet, subtitled “American” is a perfect example, written during the three years he lived in the United States between 1892 and 1895. We celebrate our 2015 American Composer-in-Residence, David Ludwig, and Young Artist Composer-in-Residence, Alyssa Weinberg. We celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the Town of Taos in a special program at the Taos Center for the Arts, as well as the great tradition of Spanish music and Flamenco dance, promising to be spectacular fun. Come celebrate with us! 2015 COVER ARTIST Music from Angel Fire announces artist Jennifer Cavan as the winner of the first annual juried art competition. The winning work, “The Angel’s Fire,” will be featured on the Summer Festival program book and will be on display with other pieces, all available for purchase at the opening night concert on August 21 at the Angel Fire Community Center. Jennifer is based in Angel Fire and her work, primarily oil pastel, focuses on the beauty and timelessness of the New Mexico landscape. 1 2015 SUMMER FESTIVAL For complete program information, go to www.musicfromangelfire.org prE-seasoN EVENTS SATURDAY, JULY 18 4th Annual Music Walk 8AM | ANGEL FIRE COMMUNITY CENTER SATURDAY, AUGUST 22 Happy Birthday, Taos! 7PM | TAOS CENTER FOR THE ARTS | $30/$40 The Town of Taos was established in 1615.
