Important Information for Residents
As part of the Muskrat Falls Project an electrode, or grounding station, will be constructed at Dowden’s Point.
Construction will start at Dowden’s Point in early April 2015. HJ O’Connell Construction Ltd. is the contractor for this
work. When construction begins, residents of will see increased traffic and heavy equipment as stone, materials
and equipment are trucked to the site. Traffic is expected to be heaviest in May and June, when the bulk of
materials will be transported. Construction will take place Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and is expected to
take six months to complete.
At Nalcor Energy, safety is our number one priority. We are taking a number of steps to ensure work is carried out
safely in your community, and encourage residents to use caution during construction:
• Access to the construction site will be restricted during construction.
• Signage will be clearly posted to mark speed limits and other safety precautions.
• A project representative will be on site at all times to ensure our commitment to safety is being met.
• Public notices will be issued as required to advise the public about construction activities in the area.
• Be cautious of equipment and trucks, particularly when entering or exiting your driveway, approaching
intersections, and walking or cycling in the area.
• For the safety of the public, the T’Railway at Dowden’s Point will be closed during construction. Trail users are
asked to detour the site using an alternate route, as indicated on trail signage.
