What you need to know before you apply
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center. A wide variety of
opportunities exist for qualified applicants who are willing to make a firm commitment for a minimum of one year.
Minimum Requirements
 One assigned shift per week (typically 4 hours)
 Continuous one year of service
 Completion of a background check
 Attendance at team meetings
 Ability to speak and read English
 Minimum age of 18 years old
Summer Youth Minimum Requirements
 One assigned shift per week (typically 4 hours) during the summer
 Ability to speak and read English
 Minimum age of 16 years old
Getting Started
Completing and submitting this application is the first step toward becoming a volunteer. If your qualifications and availability
match an open position, then you may be contacted for an information session or interview.
Steps to Becoming a Volunteer
 Complete an application
 Attend an information session or interview (by invitation only)
 Pass a background check
 Complete a health appraisal including lab work, two TB tests and an appointment with Employee Health
 Attend a new volunteer orientation
 Complete tour and customer service training
 Complete two 4- hour training sessions
