Senior Academic Advisor Granite State College is seeking a Senior Academic Advisor Position for our Manchester/Nashua Campuses Position description: Reporting to the Regional Campus Director, and working in the Manchester and Nashua campus locations, this leadership position provides supervision and training to the undergraduate advising staff. The Senior Academic Advisor leads work teams on projects that promote student success and higher education best practices. She/he provides campus services to students including all aspects of academic advising: intake, degree program planning, academic support, prior learning assessment and career-planning. Planning and participation in activities related to recruitment, student success coaching and retention of adult students is required. Regular evening availability is expected. Specific responsibilities include: Serve as the direct supervisor for campus Academic Advisors. Responsible for day-to-day supervision, distribution of information, onboarding, skill assessment of staff and development of and referral to ongoing training. Complete performance evaluations of Academic Advisors including development of individual Professional Development Plans. Liaise with Academic Affairs and other college departments to assure flow of information and best practices. Facilitate and participate in lead work teams to enrich the learning community for students through creation of project-based programming such as peer mentorship and service learning. Serve as initial contact for interested students in case load with responsibility for recruiting new students into degree programs; preliminary evaluation of transfer credits; pre-admissions skill testing; initial program planning; preparing necessary paperwork for admission Advise students enrolled in undergraduate academic programs, giving special assistance to “at-risk” students, while monitoring the academic progress of all assigned students. granite.edu Professional Administrative and Technical (PAT) Level 18 Assist students with disabilities to apply for accommodations as needed and work with faculty in the implementation of approved accommodations Organize regular campus and online events and activities that develop self-directed learners capable of academic success including New Student Orientations, Online Orientations, Library Orientations, Military Student support services, Math and Writing Workshops, etc. Assist faculty and other departments in resolving difficulties with students and provide students with appropriate information about academic expectations/policies as needed. Plan regional recruiting activities for recruiting undergraduate students, including visiting secondary schools, community colleges, community events and workplace resource fairs. Plan and attend public relations activities and represent the college at functions and special events. Manage regional activities in the absence of Regional Director Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Education or related field and two years of experience, preferably in Higher Education or Adult Learning. Preference will be given to candidates whose experience includes academic advising and one or more of the following: working with adult students in a continuing education or non-traditional higher education setting, planning and implementing a recruitment plan, experience with student information systems, strong communication, counseling, and supervision skills. Desired Qualifications: Management experience, conflict resolution skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, comfort with navigating difficult conversations, experience with working in teams.
