Enlistment of General Practitioner on a sessional basis

COMMUNIQUE
Enlistment of General Practitioner on a sessional basis in the Ministry of Youth and Sports
Applications are invited from qualified Medical Health Officers/Senior Medical Health Officers, outside the
service, who wish to be considered for enlistment on a sessional basis in the Ministry of Youth and Sports,
to provide medical services to sportsmen.
The terms and conditions of employment will be as follows:
(i)
Age limit
Candidates should be below the age of 65 years and medically fit.
(ii)
Qualifications
Candidates should be fully registered as medical practitioners in accordance with legislation in force
in Mauritius. Experience in sports field would be an advantage.
(iii)
Duties
To be responsible to the Permanent Secretary thro’ Director of Sports for:
(a)
the medical examination, assessment of fitness and follow-up of sportsmen referred by
Sports Federations and the Ministry;
(b)
referring such case needing investigations and treatment to specialised units at the Ministry
of Health and Quality of Life;
(c)
organising and participating in health education programme pertaining to sports medicine;
and
(d)
to work in close collaboration with sports coaches.
(iv)
Allowance
An all-inclusive allowance of Rs 1830 be paid per session of three hours during weekdays
and Rs 2200 per session of three hours on Sundays and Public Holidays.
(v)
Closing Date
Applications should be made on the prescribed form and submitted to the Permanent Secretary,
Ministry of Youth and Sports (Human Resource Section), 3rd floor, Emmanuel Anquetil Building,
Port Louis not later than 15.15 hrs on Wednesday 20 May 2015. Envelope should be clearly
marked on the top left-hand corner “Medical Health Officers/Senior Medical Health Officers on a
part-time sessional basis”.

(c)
Officers who have retired from the service in the public interest or on medical ground will not be
enlisted.
(d)
The employment on sessional basis will not give the selected candidate any claim for permanent
appointment in the public service.
