SAL 15 1.1.3 SAL 35 C Concordia University, Montréal, Canada Linear diffuser NAD Klima Description, Areas of application and Benefits Linear diffuser SAL 35 The SAL diffuser has linear slots with 35mm profiles. It is composed of extruded aluminum surfaces with ABS eccentric drums which slide inside and are mounted on the plenum. The SAL 35 is available with one or multiple slots depending on the application and the required amount of air. The elements can be mounted one after another to create a diffusion wave. Areas of application - Rest areas with average ceiling heights. Benefits - Adjustable without reducing the speed of the exiting air flow thanks to the section of variable drums. - Areas with levels of elevated and high - Influence (e.g. extension) on the speed air movement. critical airflow trajectory. - Situations where the diffuser must adapt to the contours and colors of the space. - Influence on the method of induction (diffuse mode). - Systems with variable flow. - Adjustment of the penetration of the air jet. - Offices, conference rooms, computer rooms, white rooms, shopping malls, cinemas, theatres etc. - Optional suppression of the Coanda effect. - Change of the direction of the jet. - Reproductive diffusion setting. - Factory default setting. - Adjustment of the diffuser still possible even after installation. - Diffuser settings not reset during cleaning. Subject to technical changes. Eccentric drums 4. Plenum 5. Air guiding blades 6. Display and adjustment dial. The SAL linear diffuser slots are composed of extruded aluminum (1) with additional wide or narrow profiles (2), the eccentric drums (3), which can rotate 360° and a plenum (4). The eccentric drums (3) offer an acoustic level and optimal aerodynamics, and possess on their axis multiple air guiding planes (5), a display and adjustment dial (6) on which are alphanumeric characters, allowing the user to define and reproduce the drum settings. The profiles, with a powder coated paint are attached to the plenum with the aid of rivets for applications in a suspended ceiling and by central screws for the gypsum ceilings. 2 1.1.3 SAL 35 Mode of operation The eccentric drums form, with the aid of the aluminum air guiding slots a flow of optimal air. The design of approach to the drums causes a drop in pressure as the air enters. As the air leaves the slot it is stable and generates a low level of acoustic power. The flow maintains a powerful induction of ambient air. The positioning of the eccentric drums allows an adjustment of the direction of the air jet, with or without reduction in the exit area. To maintain a dense airflow and maintain the direction of the air flow perpendicular to the axis of the drums, the drums have small plates to guide the air. Mode of operation Adjustment of the air jet direction Thanks to the shape of the eccentric drums and adjustment dial with alphanumeric characters, the direction of the air jet at the outlet of the diffuser can be directed changed up to 180°. For each direction there are two (2) drums positions (“reduced” or “not reduced” positions) as illustrated in the diagram above. The direction of the jet is indicated on the diagram if the diffusers are freely suspended. For a ceiling installation, a horizontal airflow is generated by the Coanda effect with the drums in positions EF, F6, 1A, AB and 21, 32, 54 and 65. The length of the drums can each be adjusted up to 100mm. As a result, the combinations of airflow are almost infinite. During manufacture, the drums are normally set alternately in position 21 and 65 (diffusion mode). This setting produces airflow with a strong induction which can be used even in areas with high cooling needs and mixed air rates. Subject to technical changes. When all of the drum of the first slot are adjusted to 2 1 and in the second slot are adjusted to 6 5, the adjustment produces a flow in two directions (divergent). Version 14 / 04 / 2015 1.1.3 SAL 35 13 NAD Klima Linear diffuser Specifications 1 - Description and physical characteristics 2 - Performance 1.1 The NAD Klima SAL 35 ceiling air diffuser is composed of extruded aluminum blades with one, two or multiple slot combinations. A width of 35mm and with plastic (ABS) eccentric drums in either matte black or white. 2.1 The SAL 35 diffuser assures a strong rate of induction even in highly variable areas in order to maintain an acceptable temperature differential in the air jet. That is to say, the difference between the designated temperature and the temperature of the air projected by the diffuser into the occupied zone. 1.2 The 100mm long NAD Klima eccentric drums are individually adjustable with an alphanumeric codification and can be rotated through 360°. Accordingly the diffuser remains fully adjustable throughout the range of diffusion (in height and through 180°). 1.3 The diffuser is supplied with a wide or narrow profile. 2.2 The performance of the SAL 35 diffuser is guaranteed by a software simulation which indicates the loss of pressure and the acoustic power generated. It also provides a cross-sectional view of the critical trajectory of the air and the nominal speed in the occupied zone in cooling mode, in heating mode and isothermal mode at 1.8m from the ground or at the request of the engineer. 3 - Adjustment 3.1 The diffuser includes a plenum provided by the manufacturer. The plenum is made from 24 gauge galvanised steel and comprises suspension points at the four corners. The inlet collar can be centred on the side and adapted to the air flow. The interior joints of the plenum are sealed with silicon. 3.2 The SAL 35 diffuser includes a perforated airflow stabilizing (equalizing) frontal plate. 4 -Balancing 4.1 The balancing must be executed by a ventilation balancing technician with a recognised professional certification. 4.2 The technician must take into account the factor of correction for the volume of air using a balometer (factor FCB). 5 - Certification 5.1 The linear diffuser SAL 35 meet the standard of ASTME 162 "Surface Flammability of Materials Using a Radiant Heat Energy Source" 6. Required quality : NAD Klima SAL 35 model. 14 1.1.3 SAL 35 Subject to technical changes.
