Position Description Department: Investor Relations Classification: Exempt; Full-time Title: Director, Investor Relations Reports To: Managing Director, Investor Relations Location: Primary – Washington, DC Date: March 2015 Director, Investor Relations Overview: Responsible for raising capital for both separate accounts and the company’s commingled fund offering, as well as developing and maintaining relationships within the real estate investment management consulting industry. Work collaboratively with the Managing Director, Investor Relations in formulating, establishing and influencing the professional corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events. Confidently demonstrates specialized intellectual knowledge in real estate investing while consistently exercising discretion and independent judgment. Essential Functions: 1. Under the guidance of the Managing Director, Investor Relations serve as a liaison between the firm and the real estate investment consultants to communicate and respond to inquiries related to the firm’s investment opportunities. 2. Under the direction of the Managing Director, work with Accounting and Portfolio & Asset Management to provide consultants and clients high quality, responsive facts regarding the company, its products and investment performance. 3. Deliver presentations to consultants and existing clients regarding the company and its products. Establish, maintain and strengthen long-term relationships with industry influencers, key strategic partners and all of the company’s stakeholders—clients, consultants, advisors, legal counsel, and internal Staff. Represent the company at industry organizations and actively network with potential investors. 4. Research competitive investment firms by identifying and evaluating product characteristics, market share, pricing, and advertising. Continue professional development as appropriate. 6. Initiate and coordinate appropriate entertainment and educational events for prospects, consultants, as well as existing clients. 7. Update Managing Director on all new initiatives and responses to inquires related to firm’s investment opportunities. Update Salesforce with pertinent information and distribute to Investor Relations team. 8. Assist the Managing Director and other Investor Relations team members with the consultant database process and ensure consultants are obtaining updated information on a quarterly database. 9. Track and monitor current trends in the market that are applicable to National. 10. Research potential RFP opportunities and assist in the creation of proposals when necessary. 11. Support Investment and Portfolio Management Staff by providing data, market trends, forecasts; supply new product information and relay investor requests. 12. Organize, attend and actively contribute to internal Staff meetings and Investor Relations weekly meetings. Communicate confidently in a collaborative team environment. 13. Regular travel, including overnight travel is required. Periodic overnight travel to main office in Washington, DC will also be required in order to attend staff meetings and other events. Other Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Keep abreast of market news reporting, industry news, and legal issues to determine the impact and proactively strategize regarding the handling of National client accounts and specific investments. 2. Maintain an adequate supply of promotional materials by coordinating requirements with vendors, inventory stock, placing orders and verify receipt. 3. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: 1. An undergraduate degree with in real estate, development, finance, marketing, business or other related field is preferred. Minimum of five to seven years of commercial real estate investor relations, investment, marketing or asset management experience is required. 3. Demonstrated experience in giving successful oral presentations with a strong ability to adapt to the specific audience. Required to exhibit advanced real estate knowledge, sound judgment, and exceptional interpersonal skills. 4. Demonstrate excellent professional organization and multitasking abilities, effective business writing and verbal communication. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce. 5. Demonstrated in-depth sales and marketing techniques and financial principles. Critical evaluation of real estate-related financial analysis. 6. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, complex professional business environment with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects. 7. Must be able to translate strategy into action, communicate at all levels of the organization and work effectively in ambiguous situations. 8. Ability to spend extended hours traveling nationwide to different project sites and office locations delivering presentations and attending special events. Work Environment: 1. This job primarily operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. It is a sedentary role in a professional environment; however incumbent is required to regularly walk, sit, talk and/or hear, reach with hands and arms.
