The next sew in will be February 18, 2015 at the Munson Fire Station on Auburn

Thanks to all who volunteered for Meals on Wheels for April, May and June.
Eileen Zavarella asks for a volunteer to be our historian and Pat Gant volunteered.
Laura Anfang delivered diapers and formula to Birthright in Chardon.
Karen Blaha provided information and forms for our 25th annual Red Wagon Luncheon to be held on April 25, 2015 at St. Noel’s, 35200 Chardon Road, Willoughby
Hills. Karen said we should all invite 4 new people. People like to be asked and
they want to help. Use the donation letter with the donation so we can give recognition to the donor. It would also be beneficial to get more ads from businesses. All
forms and letters will be attached to the newsletter.

IT’S RED WAGON LUNCHEON TIME!!!
Greetings Everyone,
Saturday, April 25th is the date of the Red Wagon Luncheon this year. It’s our 25th Luncheon and some of us
still remember working on the first one. No change in location and no change in cost! The luncheon continues
to be the major fundraising activity of our Chapter. Every member can and should be a part of its success.
There are many opportunities to participate and everyone’s participation is key to the event’s success.
Contact your friends about the date and have them mark their calendars. Save the date cards will be
available at the meetings for you to pass on to your friends. Let’s have a record attendance year!
It’s time for EVERYONE, Provisional, Active or Sustaining members, to start gathering items for the auction, soliciting ads for the program, thinking about people to invite and pretty much making the Luncheon a
high priority item. Forms for gifts and program ads will be attached to the next few issues of the newsletter.
Gift items can be brought to the January, February and March meetings or directly to Karen Blaha. Please
remember to use the gift forms for ALL the items you bring in. You may list multiple items from one
donor on the same form.
Our wonderful Basement Group assembles the GIFT BASKETS. If you would like to donate/solicit items
for a theme basket, they will be glad to assemble the items. Ideas: Kitchen Basket, Pet Basket, Garden Basket,
Wine and a hundred other options. Contact Norma Salmon to discuss ideas you may have for a ‘different’
basket.
Wish List: 1. For the Basement Group – Super large (laundry basket) & large (bigger than a bread box) baskets. Didn’t each of us get something for Christmas that we’ll never use…re-gifting is an option here.
What are they looking for? ...... Here’s a helpful list.
1. Wine glasses, cocktail napkins, bar items, cheese boards, wine bottle openers
2. Casserole dishes, serving spoons, bowls, measuring cups and spoons, kitchen towels, mitts
3. Garden items, décor and work gloves, kneeling pads, hand tools, pots
4. Young child items, 2 years and older. Cuddle blankets, books, bubble bath, Thomas the Train, Chugington,
Elmo, etc.
5. Children’s board games, girl’s hair and grooming items, boy truck and cars, 18’doll items
6. Backyard BBQ items
7. Yoga and gym items
8. Beach towels, sun lotions, sand toys, hats, visors
9. Car care items, wash, car soap, towels, car mugs, tire gauge
10. Small appliances, travel clocks, electric and battery operated tools
11. Men’s items, dresser valet, TV remote holder, screwdriver sets, flashlights and batteries
12. Pet supplies
13. Glitzy jewelry
14. DVD’s for family movie nights
15. Christmas party and serving pieces.
NO Christmas decorations this year.
16. No Tea Service items….we have plenty
17. GIFT CARDS…..very popular!
18. And….Re-gifted “YES” – recycled “NO”
All these pieces will come together in wonderful baskets. Get together with a few friends and donate all
the items to make up a theme basket. (NO food items please!)
PROGRAMS ADS bring in additional income and require very little expense to produce. The ads will
need to be solicited and prepared for the Program Book, and the result is pure profit. The ads can be
gathered for businesses or personal use. An extra effort on everyone’s part to get at least one ad will
make a big difference. Ad forms are included in this newsletter and available at the meetings.
Everything that happens at the luncheon needs worker-bees. At the February meeting there will
be a worker sign-up sheet for the day of the luncheon, but for now, the ladies listed below could
use a hand with their jobs. Can you work in any of these areas? Call/email these ladies and offer
to help!
Invitations: (Pam Faehnle) Assembling and addressing.
Publicity: (Mary Madigan) Getting the word out in church bulletins and newspapers
Corporate Solicitation: (Linda Toth) Soliciting community financial support
Reservations: (Jeanette Bussoletti) Receiving, recording, seating and name tags
Program Ads: (Judy Stone, Cathy Rubal) Collecting and preparing the ads
Gift Collection: (Karen Blaha) Receiving, recording and acknowledging auction items
Main Raffle: (Linda Yanko) Distributing, collecting Raffle tickets
Basement Group: (Norma Salmon, Joyce Rodriguez) Basket building
Luncheon Forms and cover letters for gift solicitations and programs ads are
included in this newsletter. PLEASE print the pages and
GOOD LUCK gathering gifts and ads.
There are more parts to the Luncheon that I will contact you about during the next few
months.
Have fun helping to make this years Luncheon a huge success!

Red Wagon Luncheon
April 25, 2015
, State Zip
Dear Friend:MM,
The National Christ Child Society, and its affiliate Geauga County Chapter, is a volunteer service organization
of 40 chapters that has been in existence since 1887 when our founder, Servant of God, Mary Virginia Merrick,
professed, “Nothing is ever too much to do for a child”. Since 1978, the Geauga County Chapter has responded to the needs of the disadvantaged, especially children, in our county.
We would like to ask you to consider a donation to our organization by placing an ad in our 25 th annual
Red Wagon Luncheon Program. The luncheon is our leading fund-raising event and last year generous donations from the business community helped to insure the success of our event and the continuation of our service projects. Proceeds from this luncheon have enabled our organization to continue to be a viable service organization helping the children of Geauga County.
Your gift is tax deductible and provides excellent exposure in our event program. Many of our over 300 attendees make an effort to patronize the businesses listed in the program. Your business card or a current ad
would be all that you would need to provide for the ad layout.
Please return the reply form with your donation in the enclosed envelope by April 10th. We can answer any
questions you might have by calling Judy Stone at 440-632-5116. Thank you in advance for your support of
The Christ Child Society of Geauga County.
With best regards,
Janet Kramarz
