How do I apply for
scholarships?
The application window is between January 1 — March 1 of each year.
More details and information on the scholarships and access to the
online application system are available through our website at:

Please be sure to review the specific criteria and requirements on each
scholarship application. Some of the scholarships are available to any student,
and some are restricted to students from a particular high school or county.
What is the Community Foundation
for the Land of Lincoln?
The Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving central
Illinois. The Community Foundation administers charitable funds, a number of
which are scholarship funds. The Foundation is a partner with the donors of
those funds and administers the scholarship selection process. A variety of
scholarships are available, each one tailored to the wishes of the donor.

The Association for Women in Communications, Springfield Chapter,
Communications Scholarship • $500
• Students majoring in communications, journalism, public relations or related fields such as
marketing, design, videography, photography, etc., that are from Central Illinois or attend a
College or University in Central Illinois
Bud & Helene O’Shea Construction Scholarship • $1,000 (Renewable)
• Pursuing a degree in construction, engineering or architecture
CFLL Service Scholarship • $1,500
• Must be nominated by a high school principal in Sangamon County; contact your guidance
counselor for more information. Unsolicited applications will not be accepted.
• Be an extraordinary example of service to others and to the community
Charlie Cottle Scholarship • $1,000
• Chatham Glenwood High School varsity athlete
CIELO Medical Scholarship • $1,000 (Renewable)
• Latino descent and pursuing specified medical profession at an institution within
Sangamon County
Donna and Donald Lee Wolaver Memorial Golf Scholarship • $500
• Golf team member at high school in Sangamon County
Frontiers International Springfield Club Scholarship • $500
(Multiple)
Joseph and Lois Morris Memorial Scholarship • $1,000 (Multiple)
• Must be nominated by Springfield High Guidance Counselor; contact your guidance
counselor for more information. Unsolicited applications will not be accepted.
Jim Byron Scholarship • $1,000
• Williamsville High School student involved in service and school activities
Linda S. Culver Memorial Scholarship • $1,000
• Must be a college junior, senior or graduate student
• Must be registered as a Girl Scout with the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois
Lori L. Kashmer Scholarship • $5,000
• Pursuing a degree in nursing, health or medical career or in veterinary medicine as a
part-time or full-time student
• Student must exhibit a passion for learning and demonstrate financial need
L. Scott Hoff Scholarship • $1,000
• Graduating from a high school in Sangamon County with a record of service to Boys
& Girls Club or similar fraternal or community organization
Margaret Johnson Special Education Scholarship • $600
• Graduating from a high school in Sangamon County and pursuing a degree in special
education, with the intent of teaching special education students
Mary Lou and Dwight Pitman Scholarship • $1,000 (Renewable)
• Preference is given to African-American students (either male or female) and to applicants
with substantial financial need
• Area public high school student in Sangamon County other than
• Springfield School District or Chatham School District with siblings planning to or
attending college
Girls on the Run of Central Illinois Founder’s Scholarship • $1,000
Paul V. Gage Community Service Scholarship • $600
• Graduating female senior who participated in the GOTR of Central Illinois program
• Vienna High School student demonstrating a record of service
Henry Bunn Memorial Scholarship • $5,000 (Multiple)
Reverend Kenneth H. White Family Scholarship • $600 (Multiple)
• Currently reside in Sangamon County
• Graduating high school student or current college student
• Demonstrate financial need and superior academic work
• Lanphier High School student planning to obtain a State Teaching Certificate to teach
in the public school system
Illinois Women in Leadership High School Scholarship • $1,000 (3)
• Latino descent and be a graduating senior (or GED certificate) from one of the following
Illinois counties: Sangamon, Cass, Douglas, Champaign, Macon, McLean or Morgan
• Female exhibiting leadership qualities and strong potential and desire for
professional growth
Illinois Women in Leadership Chrysalis Award • $1,000
Spanish American Cultural Center Scholarship • $1,000 (3 Renewable)
SAHBA Construction/Robert E. von Behren Memorial
Scholarship • $1,000
• Female who has earned a high school diploma or GED at least 5 years ago exhibiting
leadership qualities and strong potential and desire for professional growth
• Open to students pursuing a career in the building industry in the following counties: Sangamon,
Christian, Montgomery, Macoupin, Scott, Morgan, Cass, Menard, Mason and Logan
Jamie K. Patino Math and Science Scholarship • $750
World War II Illinois Descendants Statewide Scholarship • $1,000 (2)
• Springfield Southeast High School student seeking a degree in the field of engineering,
math or science
• Must be a direct descendant of a WW II Illinois Veteran and have 4.0 GPA on a nonweighted scale (or be the projected valedictorian or salutatorian
