In 2011, the North Carolina General Assembly lifted a 25-year ban on the construction of
terminal groins (TG) along the coast of North Carolina.
The Corps has or is reviewing 4 TG proposals including Bald Head Island, Figure Eight
Island, Ocean Isle Beach and Holden Beach.
