Jesus Christ came into the world in the form of a human being in
order to be with human beings, to share the fate of human beings,
to suffer with human beings and to have died for them. Christ’s
mission of saving people from eternal death was well-accomplished
when he was hung on the cross. The moment
of being hung on the cross is also the
moment of being glorified.
The resurrection of our Lord brightens those
who walk in darkness and strengthens their
faith. It is certain that joy of resurrection
overflows toward those who have faith in
him. The joy of the resurrection becomes our
joy as well. There is full hope in this joy because the resurrection is
the source of hope in its promise of a new life. The resurrection of
Christ allows us to hope in the eternal joy promised to us by Christ.
This hope strengthens believers to walk vigorously, to face and to
overcome the challenges, the difficulties, the pain, poverty, and
especially persecutions.
If the joy and hope of Jesus Christ’s resurrection are the
motivations of our lives, then it should be that our hope of the
resurrection should be expressed every day of our lives. If so, our
life can go courageously from the cross to the resurrection. Praise
the Lord for His love never ends.

Principal’s Message
As I am writing this teachers and students are preparing portfolios, and work
displays for student lead conferences. The opportunity to see your child's work,
hear about the skills and knowledge they are developing, and recognize areas for
growth are built in to these conferences. Sometimes a parent will recognize the
need to speak in depth with the teacher. Staff members are always glad to meet
to discuss achievement and other issues that students experience at school. In
fact we recognize the obligation we have to provide ways for you to communicate
with us.
At times parents recognize difficult topics they want to address. Sometimes these
types of issues trigger strong emotions and concern. These are the times to
contact your child's teacher. These difficulties can be difficult to discuss.
Sometimes parents may feel fear, or anger about confronting the issues. But, we
encourage you to go forward and contact the teacher. Years of experience in
schools support this practice. When parents talk with teachers, issues are almost
always solved, or resolved. It can be difficult, but it’s the right thing to do first.
There may be some times where an issue can't be resolved, or decisions need to
be made that are beyond the teacher's role. This is the time to approach the
administrators of the school. By far, almost all issues are resolved at this level.
Rarely, there may be a need to talk to someone beyond the school. In these
cases school division superintendents and director can be contacted for support.
The benefit to following these practices is that at each level parents are talking to
the person who can resolve parent's concerns. This protocol works, and is fair to
everyone involved. In short, the best most likely way to resolve concerns, is to
speak to your child's teacher first. We care. We want to do the best we can for
the children in our classes and in our school.

In order to protect children with severe allergies, a policy has been implemented at Notre Dame. We are
insisting that any snack or treat brought into classrooms for events such as birthdays, or other special
days, must:
 Be packaged in individual servings
 Be accompanied by the nutrition information and ingredients
If you are uncertain if an item is appropriate please speak to your child's teacher, or contact the office.

Pre-Kindergarten
The Pre-Kindergarten program is a FREE program
for all 3-5 year old children, although preference
is given to children who come from a single-parent
family, parents in school, low income families or
receiving social assistance, a child in need of
learning assistance, speech and/or social
behaviours. The Pre-Kindergarten program runs
Monday to Thursday, 3 hours per a day, either
mornings or afternoons. Space is limited, but
applications are accepted
throughout the year as space
becomes available.
Kindergarten
If your child will be 5 on or
before December 31, 2015
and resides within our school
attendance area, they may
register for our Kindergarten program.
Kindergarten to Grade 7
If your child will not be attending Notre Dame
School for the 2015-16 school year, please contact
the school as soon as possible. Notice of these
changes will help us in the process of establishing
staffing and classroom arrangements for the school
year.
Also, if you know any parents who
are considering registering their
children at Notre Dame School for
the fall, please encourage them to
contact our school as soon as
possible. Any number of new students to our school
could make a difference in the arrangement of
classes and grades. Again, please encourage
parents of new students to come in to register as
soon as possible.
Please bring your child’s Baptism certificate if they
are Baptized and their Saskatchewan Health Card
when registering.
Music Festival 2015!
The Notre Dame School Choir participated in the
Battlefords Kiwanis Music Festival on Tuesday,
March 25. They sang two selections at the festival:
“Inscription of Hope” by Z. Randall Stroope and “Me
Gusta” by: Dave & Jean Perry. Our choir was
accompanied on the piano by Chelsea Higgs and
conducted by Theresa Eppich. We would like to
take this opportunity to thank our accompanist who
did a fantastic job! Special thanks also to Mr.
Bourgeois for coming in and conducting a couple of
workshops for our choir! Congratulations to the
choir on all of your hard work preparing for Music
Festival and for your lovely performance! Notre
Dame School is proud of your accomplishments in
music!

Bike Locks & Skateboards
With the snow disappearing and the warm weather, students are starting to ride their bikes to school. A bike
stand is located on the school grounds for bikes. To ensure the safety of your child’s bike, we recommended
that a good bike lock be used to lock up bikes.
Students are not allowed to bring skateboards to school as we do not have room to store the skateboards.
Over the past number of years, we have had
families from different parts of the world move to
our province and city. We have been very
fortunate to have many of them become part of
our school family. Some of these students moved
to Canada with little or no English. The English as
an Additional Language program was started to
help support the English Language Learners.
Some of the students are working on developing
basic English Language skills, while others are
receiving extra support with the learning
strategies that they are using in the classroom.
This year Mrs. Sander and I collaborated to plan
and teach a Health-Safety Unit to the Grade 2
students. I am very thankful for having the
opportunity to work with many of our English
Language Learners in the past and I look forward
to welcoming new students in the future!

In AR News…
Don’t Get Caught In the Rain
Join in the Spring Fling!
Each week for 5 weeks – Notre Dame students have an
AR point challenge.
When the whole school reaches their challenge–
students who participate get a prize. Our last week
will feature a dance – a Spring Fling!
PLUS
Two students will be invited from each class to attend
the Spring Tea next month!
Our Annual Used-Book Sale & Library Club Bake Sale, were a great success!
We raised $543.60 – to be used for our Accelerated Reader program.
A big thanks to everyone for your support again this year!
