This rule applies to adults, guests, and Key Clubbers. • The proper dress code will be enforced at all conference functions. See Attire Definitions and Expectations on page 9 and dress code symbols by each event. • To gain admittance to any conference activity (including the dances or game rooms), each conference attendee must wear his/her conference name badge. If a badge is lost, please report to the Conference Office, Floor 6 of the Marriott. • Please remember to move quietly through the halls of the hotels and to respect other hotel guests. • General Sessions, Workshops, Caucuses, and the Service Fair are mandatory for all Key Clubbers. • Contestants in the Oratory Contest and Service Fair presenters can exchange their lunch tickets at the Conference Office Change Wars Contest Procedure All money will be deposited into containers located in designated areas. Look for Change Wars containers at Marriott Registration and at the Service Fair. All funds will benefit the District Projects. Each coin counts as its actual face value in cents. Ex. Penny = 1 pt., Nickel = 5 pts., Dime = 10 pts., Quarter = 25 pts. Points from coins are added to the total. Each paper bill counts as its actual face value in cents. Ex. $1 bill = 100 pts., $5 bills = 500 points Points from bills are subtracted from the total. Strategy: Place coins into your state’s container to add points to your total. Place bills into your opponents’ containers to subtract points from their totals. Do not make change! Never put in paper money and take out coins equal to that dollar amount - that’s cheating! SUBMIT YOUR CLUB OFFICER DIRECTORY! As soon as your club has done elections for the 2015 - 2016 school year, please fill out the Club Officer Directory form online with contact information for your club officers and advisors. Submitting this form is necessary for the 2015-2016 District Board to send important information to your club. Learn more and find the Club Officer Directory form at: www.newenglandkeyclub.org 3 KCI President’s Message Have you ever thought about what it means to be a Key Clubber? You put others before yourself. You care about your world and the people living in it. You are making a better life for others. You are changing your community, and, together, we are changing the world. Key Club gives us the opportunity to help others while developing ourselves as young adults. I think that is why I love Key Club so much. Obviously, Key Club means something to you, too, if you are here this weekend. For that, I thank you. Key Club wouldn’t be what it is without you and our 270,000 selfless and passionate members across the globe. As International President, I am working tirelessly with the International Board and 33 Districts to make sure that your Key Club is successful. The club level is the most important level of Key Club International, and our goal is always to better our clubs. With that said, I am always available if you have questions. My job is to serve you, and I will continue to do so until the end of my term. I hope to see you at our International Convention this June in Indianapolis! We have a goal of 2,000 attendees, and with stellar entertainment and the endless experiences available for you and your club, it won’t disappoint! On behalf of Key Club International, thank you again for your commitment to changing the world. I am so proud to be a Key Clubber by your side. A friend in service, Maria Palazzolo Key Club International President KCI Trustee’s Message Hello Fabulous New England & Bermuda Key Clubbers! Kudos to each and every one of you for making such a great impact on your homes, schools, and communities this past year! I am honored to have been invited to your conference here in Springfield, Massachusetts. Governor’s Welcome Hello dedicated servant leaders of the New England and Bermuda District of Key Club International! I have had the great honor of serving as your Governor over the past year, and I have to say that it was one of the best years of my life. I am very proud of everything that this District accomplished, and it has been a pleasure to watch you all make a difference in your homes, schools, and communities. Together as a District, we are impacting countless lives around the world. Through our District Projects, we have made a big difference for the children of Vietnam, the families of Camp Sunshine, and the patients of the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute. Along with the entire Kiwanis International Family, we have made strides to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus from the globe through the Eliminate Project. As the Eliminate Project reaches its final stages, I want to thank you again for all of your support, as the New England and Bermuda District has made a huge impact on the success of this International Project. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy lives to attend the 2015 District Educational Conference (DECON) and for your service and your contributions to this organization. One of the main purposes of DECON is to recognize the clubs and members who have gone above and beyond in their pursuit of excellent service, but the New England and Bermuda District is grateful to every single one of its members because even just one member can make a huge difference. This weekend, you will have opportunities to connect and share with other Key Clubbers that share the same passion for service. You’ll find new service ideas at the exciting Service Fair, learn how to be a better club officer at workshops, be recognized for your hard work at the Talent and Recognition Session, hang out with friends new and old at the dances, and more! There are going to be some exciting races for District Executive Board positions, and I encourage all of you to vote based on the quality of the candidates, not by how popular they are. Most of all, I hope you have fun, and I can’t wait to meet all of you. As your International Trustee, I have been working with your District leaders to keep them updated on all things happening Internationally. Everyone is lucky to have had such an outstanding group of individuals leading you this past year! Your governor, Malcolm Badger, is extremely dedicated, and he has worked diligently to make your Key Club experience the best it could possibly be. Your District Board has worked relentlessly to provide you with opportunities, especially to make this DECON the best you’ve ever had. I would like to give a special thanks to the District Board, who have put so much work into planning this year’s District Educational Conference. The District Board has done an outstanding job, and I couldn’t be happier with the commitment that each Board member has made this year. Thank you for being a member of Key Club International! You understand that we can make an impact, and we are. There is no such thing as being too young to serve others. Together, through our service and caring, and through our joint efforts, we are making a real difference in the world every day to eliminate Maternal/Neonatal Tetanus. Thank you so much for joining us this weekend and for everything you and your Key Club have accomplished this year. If you have any questions, I will be here all weekend! I would love to meet all of you. On behalf of Key Club International, I hope you have a wonderful District Convention!
