JOB POSTING: External Relations Associate
Neighborhood Trust seeks an External Relations Associate to join its growing External Relations team.
The External Relations Associate will report to the Director of External Relations, work as a team with
the Development Writer and share directly in the department’s responsibility to build Neighborhood
Trust’s brand and raise philanthropic capital from private foundations, government sources and
individual donors. We are looking for an outstanding talent who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow
along with the organization as we pursue a scale. The ideal candidate loves systems and process, enjoys
analyzing data, is extremely organized, demonstrates outstanding communication skills and strong
writing abilities, has a can-do attitude, takes initiative, is detail oriented and brings a passion for

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Department Administration
o Manage the Salesforce database
o Conduct analysis of Salesforce data to generate new ideas for better donor engagement
o Process all grant letters and donations, organize tax acknowledgement/thank you notes,
and enter reporting requirements into Salesforce
o Track department performance indicators against yearly goals
o Manage the writing pipeline to meet all report and deadlines, keep the team on track to
meet our monthly and yearly activity and revenue goals
o Conduct prospect research for individual and institutional donor prospects
o Produce and update the agenda for weekly External Relations meeting
o Generate new and improved systems for the department to improve efficiency and
overall performance



Grant Writing & Reporting
o Format, organize all supporting documents
o Update/customize existing text for grant proposals
o Liaise with other members of the Neighborhood Trust team to gather and format
relevant information
o Work with Director of External Relations, Grant Writer and CEO to craft development
strategy and content
Communications
o Mange web site updates, content and new features
o Oversee all Social Media accounts
o Monitor the news and update the web site’s News section with relevant media coverage
o Write and send email blasts to donor network
o Write Client Success Stories
o Based on Google Analytics, generate and execute new ideas for web site
Special Projects
o As needed, partner with Development Writer on new collateral
o As needed, complete one-off projects assigned by the Director of External Relations
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Hold a Bachelor’s degree
1-3 years related work experience
Highly organized systems thinker with ability to
originate and implement processes
Experience and enthusiasm for data analysis
A can-do attitude and history of taking initiative
Outstanding written and spoken
communication skills
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and
deliver under pressure

Ability to work effectively in groups
Track record of strong listening skills and ability
to take instruction and execute independently
Authorized to work in USA
Passion for Neighborhood Trust’s work
Experience with CRM or databases, preferred
Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising operations,
preferred
Spanish language proficiency, preferred
