The end-user perspective Joaquín Cabezas is CCO of ADEVICE ADEVICE is a Spanish SME that designs and manufactures wireless connectivity devices. Its mission is to help systems integrators to build the Internet of Things. Who is the end user of FIWARE? • Typically, a European SME or entrepreneur • Today we are sharing: • Our own experience (indeed, we are end users) • Questions/Feedback from potential users Creative destruction at its finest • FIWARE raises the bar • SMEs should be attracted (and watchful) • • • “Is this going to be the next big thing?” “I don’t want to invest before others” “If this is happening, how it affects me?” RISK Commodification via Generic Enablers • Young SMEs are used to open competition. • No captive customers • Win by being better • Focus on your business Who is paying for the IoT? Development, manufacturing, deployment, maintenance… Can we make/save money by using FIWARE? Yes we can • Price and value of IoT. Mind the gap • Find partners from other areas (connect as a puzzle) • Let new business increase value of data • Break the resistance (initial costs) • Start from the very first day • Scale • Prepared to grow (both systems and employees) Example. Smart Fountains Seville • City platform based on FIWARE • Independent teams (hardware, UX, middleware) • Concept and prototyping on FIWARE LAB What do we expect? • By sharing a common language, SMEs are more agile. This is the main advantage (as noticed by Adevice) to increase competitiveness. (GEs API) • Commercial Platform (announced for 2Q15) • Growing community from the accelerators • Future support (foundation? Association?) What do you expect? Would you give it a try? What do you need to see to believe? What do you expect from FIWARE? Are there SMEs or entrepreneurs on the room? Thank you @joaquincabezas (if you are an SME or entrepreneur, send me a DM with your contact details, I’m writing an article) @adevice
