supply of building materials. Murray will be presenting Knauf Insulation’s
innovative range of Jet Stream® MAX, blow-in glasswool insulation and slab
insulation ClimaFoam XPS Board, which are new innovative products for the
New Zealand market.

pro clima will be presenting on latest national and international research in regards
to external weathertightness, internal airtightness and moisture control. Current
design and build details in New Zealand do not provide for durable constructions to
ensure no moisture or water related issues arise during the lifetime of the building.
Applied principles of building science will be explained on current projects in New
Zealand and the practical session will introduce the use of WUFI and Blower Door
as verification methods under NZBC.

General Manager at Knauf Insulation - Murray has a wide range of experience in the building
industry, from procurement, marketing and category management with two of the major
merchants, through to launching innovative building products in New Zealand. Murray was on
the project team for PH1NZ, the first Passive House in New Zealand, and has recently finished
his own Passive House.

General Manager at pro clima - Thomas gained an engineering degree specialising in building
physics and energy e ciency from the University of Applied Science in Rosenheim, Germany, then
completed an internship as an engineer in Japan. After moving to New Zealand in 2003, Thomas
was the Director of several companies including until the opportunity arose to introduce pro clima
to New Zealand in 2006.

The Heating Company will present on modern design for Mechanical Ventilation
with Heat Recovery (MVHR) for energy efficient homes, Passive Houses and Modern
build Projects. Incorporating Passive House concepts that offer levels of comfort not
encountered by the majority of New Zealand builds.
Answers to modern “Air Tight” homes will be introduced, including MVHR being an
integral part of ensuring a clean healthy moisture free environment, with power
saving benefits using the two major European systems, centralized and de-centralized
vented systems.
