POSITION: Dock Hands- Alfosin Pier

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Assist the dock master as needed.
EXPECTATIONS AND LIST OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Be able to handle lines, fenders
 Feel comfortable with handling radio communications
 Smiling face and happy personality!
o For some people you may be the first encounter they have with someone
from the Race Village.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Minimal lifting. Moving swiftly, but safely along docks.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
 Prior Yacht/Larger vessel docking experience required.
 English speaking and Spanish also valuable
 Friendly and personable, works well with others.
ORIENTATION AND TRAINING: Daily as needed on site with dock master or designee
BENEFITS: Working up close with team vessels/chartered yachts
CHALLENGES/POSSIBLE FUSTRATIONS: Significant dock traffic on some
days/weather
SATISFACTIONS: Representing Newport, and the US sailing community. Being part of the
greatest Sailing Event around the world.
SUPERVISION: Directly under the dock master (Sean Klaboe) and or his designee
AUTHORITY/DECISION MAKING: Minimal. Assisting yacht crews and charter reps as
needed.
SUPPORTING POLICIES:
Waiver signature.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Outdoors with minimal shelter from environmental concerns
