Have your say...
Summer 2015
Your homes. Getting it right together
Everyone in Carmarthenshire
has a chance to have their say
on what they think the council’s
priorities should be regarding
housing in the future.
As part of a consultation, people
are being asked to consider what
the term ‘affordable homes’ means
to them - who they feel affordable
homes should be provided for;
what role the council should play
in providing affordable homes, and
how we can increase the supply of
affordable homes in the county.
The consultation will be available
online until May 29, and results
will feed in to the development of
the Affordable Housing Plan.

More than a hundred people from
Carmarthen and the surrounding
area came together to discuss ideas
and to learn more about the
University’s vision for new Welsh
Language Centre in Carmarthen,
Yr Atom.
A great number of fantastic ideas
were put forward by local people,
organisations and societies at the
public meeting and via social media
and the online forum.
All suggestions on activities,
facilities and resources that the
Centre could provide have been
considered and have shaped the
new Centre which will serve Welsh
speakers
and
learners
in
Carmarthen.
Gwilym Dyfri Jones, Associate ProVice Chancellor and the project
lead on behalf of the University:
“We are determined that it will offer
the kind of activities and facilities
that will benefit the local people.
Thank you to everyone who’s been
a part of this exciting journey."
Giving
children
a voice
Schoolchildren
in
Carmarthenshire
are
being asked for their
views
on
sporting
activities.
Through a national school sports survey, commissioned by Sport Wales,
children can request what sporting activities they would like to do more of
in their school or college.
The survey is open to primary and secondary schools as well as first year
college students. Its aim is to encourage more people to become more
active and adopt healthy lifestyles.
Each school is given a link to access the survey which is available until the
end of the summer term.
Promoting independence
Do you have any views on how Carmarthenshire’s social services can
support older people to stay independent?
If so, we would like to hear from you. Your views will help us to develop a
plan to re-design the way we provide care and support services for older
people.
You can share your views with us during June and July via an on-line
questionnaire on ilocal.carmarthenshire.gov.uk or telephone 01267
234567 to request a questionnaire by post, or pick up a copy at customer
services centres or libraries.
