The BEAMS Arts Festival - Sydney’s favourite block party and festival of creative ideas returns for its fourth year. Being held on Saturday 19 September from 5pm-10pm, this year, BEAMS promises an ever bigger, brighter festival; coinciding with the International Year of Light, an initiative that aims to raise global awareness about the pivotal role that light plays in our daily lives. WHAT: BEAMS Arts Festival WHEN: Saturday 19 September, 5pm-10pm WHERE: The event will be held along Balfour Street, Little Queen Street and the surrounding laneways of Chippendale, as well as in the ‘Chippendale Green’ public park (located in the Central Park development). Hosted by the Chippendale Creative Precinct, BEAMS 2015 is set to be a creative extravaganza showcasing a kaleidoscope of light, colour, form, movement and sound from some of Sydney’s most talented creative minds. PHENOMENA sets the theme for this year’s vibrant and eclectic program, reflecting the phenomena of Chippendale itself; from industrial beginnings to a contemporary scene, reimagining the possibilities of the city through collaborative imagination. BEAMS 2015 will be the largest to date - set to attract a record number of visitors, as the event extends into Chippendale Green public park, located within the Central Park development. This year BEAMS will once again deliver a world-class program, attracting Australia’s most inspired creative talents. Chippendale will be brought to life by Sydney’s best production houses, tertiary think-tanks, digital agencies and galleries. A myriad of artists, performers and creative producers will be showcased, representing the cutting-edge of contemporary art and design, for local and international audiences alike. Festival Director and NG Art Gallery owner, Nicky Ginsberg said BEAMS is a colourful and engaging spectacle which has become one of the most highly anticipated events on Sydney’s arts and cultural calendar since its inception in 2012. “This year BEAMS will be bigger and better than ever – featuring various art, sound and light installations, video and animation, live dance, theatre and art performances, as well as food stalls showcasing Chippendale’s finest eateries. Live music featuring Australia’s best and brightest talent curated by Pandora Internet Radio and including Triple J Unearthed, the Australian Institute of Music and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music will also feature in this year’s stellar line-up” said Ms Ginsberg.
