Niton & District Camera Club
MARCH 2015 Newsletter
On the 5th March we held a Practical Evening at Niton.
Chris, Martin and Barb spent the first half of the evening
demonstrating the use of various studio lights and the effects of different lenses on the outcomes. Results were
shown by tethering the camera to the laptop through
Lightroom. After the break members were then able to
practice with their own equipment. Many thanks to
Chris, Martin and Barb for producing an excellent
evening.
The 19th March showed a good turnout for the AGM. All members of the committee were
re-elected except for Paul Lucas who has retired. Our thanks go to Paul for his help over the
years. Trevor Hooley was elected to the committee. The accounts were accepted and after
discussion and review of the up coming year the annual membership fee was raised to £20.
A new format for competitions was discussed and accepted. In the future there will be no
print competitions and we will hold Autumn and Spring competitions with a mainland judge.
Prior to these competitions there will be feeder competitions so members can assess whether
or not to amend and re-submit images. Full details are on the web site.
Suggestions were made for summer outings, programme content and competition themes.
Due to the closeness of Easter, our meeting on the 2nd April has been modified slightly. It is
still in two halves. The first is a knockout competition judged by a show of hands. Three
images for projection per member are required. This is now followed by a DVD from a professional photographer.
16th April is a critique of images from Croxley. Comments are then returned to Croxley.
They are doing a similar evening. We will also hold the postponed Peter Tucker Cup. This
is projected on the topic of Most Unusual. Three images for projection per member are required. Titles must show A,B or C.
30th April is the Chairman’s Shield competition. Three images per member on any topic but
they must not have been entered into any Niton club competition. Shields will also be presented to members who have won the seasons competitions.
