HOUSE SWIMMING CARNIVAL... Hot Off the Press
Yesterday was our House Swimming Carnival and
students from Years 3 to 6 travelled to the Claremont
Pool to compete for their respective faction house. The
competition was again held in great spirit, with an
emphasis on participation and fun, while still
encouraging keen competition. The weather was kind
to us and the children had a wonderful day, especially
when they were competing in either novelty or
championship events. The Interschool Swimming Carnival, against West Leederville and
Marmion PS is scheduled for the last
week of term, on Tuesday March 31st
and should be a very keenly contested
event.
The results of the overall carnival and
individual champions are listed below.
Overall result: 1st Waterman with
640pts, 2nd Hamersley with 557pts
and 3rd Lennard with 533pts

SCHOOL BOARD WELCOMES SOME NEW MEMBERS
The North Beach School Board met for the first time for 2015 this week. Our first order
of business was to thank our departing members and to welcome the new members to
the Board. A huge thank you to Brett Hazelden and Shelley Curry for their contribution
and a warm welcome to Charlotte Ellery, Julie Dunmore and Lincoln Barrett who are our
new members. The Board plays a vital role in helping to set the direction of the school,
reviewing school performance and endorsing the school’s finances. It is an important
part of the school’s accountability and self review processes. I thank all Board members
for being so generous with their time and expertise
SPORT NEWS
Intraschool Cricket
On Friday March 6th Years Five and Six completed in an Intraschool Cricket Carnival over at Charles Riley Oval. We were
put into ten teams of eight players and then played two other teams. We would like to thank the parents and coaches
from the WACA on behalf of North Beach Primary School.
Ryan Gault and Lexie Elliott
Modcrosse
Both of our Pre Primary classes, as well as all Year Two and Three classes
were lucky enough to be involved in Modcrosse (modified Lacrosse)
sessions on Tuesday. Modified sticks and balls are used in Modcrosse and
the children pass and catch the ball until they get close enough to score a
goal!
Miss Young's Year Two class are seen here with Seamus from the WA
Lacrosse Association.
Interested students can play during the winter season with the Wanneroo
Lacrosse Club.
Girls Footy
Most of our Year Four to Six students were involved in some fun footy
activities on Tuesday afternoon with three players from the Freo Dockers.
The main purpose of the visit was to encourage as many Year Four to Six
girls as possible to sign up for next term's Friday afternoon GIRLS ONLY
footy comp!
Tendai Mzungu, Lachie Weller and Michael Apeness had to battle with
quite a few West Coast Eagles supporters, but they did end up winning
the respect of all of the kids who were involved. Leave your Term Two
Friday afternoons free girls. You never know, you may be able to meet
some Eagles players next time!
Gymbus
On Tuesday Room 8 went to Gymbus. First we had to take our shoes
off. Then we got in our groups. Craig set the timer so we could go
upstairs or downstairs.
By Lily
Yesterday I went on the Gymbus. First of all I went upstairs and Craig
told us what you had to do. You had to climb on the monkey bars,
roll down on a soft mat and we went in the tunnels. I felt very happy.
It was the best day of my life.
By Aston
On Tuesday we went to the Gymbus! Before we could go on we had
to take our shoes off. Then we found out our groups and climbed up
to the level we are on and if you are on the bottom level you just
walk on the Gymbus. When the music starts to play, we can start to
play.

Hockey
The North Coast Raiders Hockey Club will be conducting clinics with our Year 1-3 students over the next two weeks.
Hockey is a great game that can be played from any age. We have some senior students who have been representatives
of regional teams and who knows, they could go on to one day playing for Australia in the Olympic Games!
If you are interested in joining up with The Raiders, go onto their website to find out more details.
TENNIS AT NORTH BEACH
Every Wednesday at lunchtime from 12.30pm until 1.00pm four
tennis nets together with balls and racquets are put up by our Sports
Group and helpers. Students play for 15 minutes then swap around
to allow for a new set of tennis players. The school has junior
racquets plus smaller sized racquets for Years 1 and 2. There are no
more than four players per court and this activity is supervised by Mr
Hughes who is a qualified tennis coach. The interest level seems very
high at the moment so let's hope this continues.
Happy “tennissing!” Monsieur Hughes
NEWS FROM THE FRENCH ROOM
Over the last two weeks we have been “buzzing” our way through
the board game, “Bonnes Vacances.” Years Three to Six were
divided into groups of four: bleu, (blue) orange, vert (green) and
violet (purple). Individual questions were asked and if answered
correctly, points gained for their team.
The students found this activity fun and enjoyable. It also showed
me how much the children knew from the French text of words,
phrases, sentences and also their translation skill and
pronunciation of French text. Looking forward to the next two
weeks where we will be covering Joyeuses Paques (Happy Easter).
Merci beaucoup.
