OUTSTANDING PATROL
PERFORMANCE
A job “extremely well done” by Patrol 4 on
Easter Sunday afternoon completing 10
successful rescues in very challenging
conditions. Patrol Captains, Dallas Hall, Danika Harrison &
Kathryn McKenzie and their team really showcased their
lifesaving skills on a busy long weekend.
In addition, 5 members of this team headed down to a very
busy Surfers Paradise Beach to assist the club down there
that were undermanned with a very busy beach.

QLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to all competitors that raced at the QLD
Championships. A special mention must go to Megan
Kreuter who was awarded the Peter Lacy
Medal for Competitor of the Carnival.

Aussie Medals in Boat Section
Finals Day for BMD Boat Crews BMD Northcliffe Open Women (Krankitz) - National
Silver Medalists, and BMD Northcliffe Open Men
(Storm) - National Bronze medalists in the Life Saver
Relay . BMD Northcliffe Thunder (Reserve Grade) - Top
10 finish (had beaten every Reserve Grade crew consistently only to be had on a lack of waves in Semi ,
they were on track for a podium finish in the Aussie
finals. BMD Northcliffe Menace (Sweep Michael
Cameron) - Top 20 finish. In fact we have worked out
our results over 4 days of surf boat rowing and eliminations, we contested 42 races ... our BMD Northcliffe
Surf Boat crews compiled a massive 31 winnings to
keep progressing to the last 6 boats in finals . A special
outstanding performance was Sweep Damien Clayphan
collecting both Aussie medals Silver & Bronze, so unlucky in the Open Women Final led all the way, 2m to
the line our girls were pipped for "Gold", a back marker pulled a swell out the back . Also great to see our
mates from Piha Surf Club NZ from across the ditch
who reached the final series, rowed our 2nd boat. The
only disappointment on finals day, most members in
support where at Nth Kirra (boats section is being held
at Tugun) so we couldn't share the love, but hey we
were privileged to have our major sponsor BMD - Mick
and Denise Power on beach watching the finals . We
must thank our major sponsor BEKO in partnering our
crews this season, a Turkish company, and leading
“Home Appliance” manufacture in Europe (now here in
Australia) who have invested in Surf Lifesaving Surf
Sports this season around Australia, One week after
Aussies, Anzac Day Beko will stage 100 Years – 100 Surf
Boats . re-enactment of the Gallipoli Landing on Collaroy Beach, our BMD Northcliffe Surf Boat & Crew will
be on the front line (first wave) to hit the beach with
10,000 people expected to witness the Anzac Day Memorial. Also Thanks to our support sweeps, coaches
and developing ladies crews for 2016 who were there
to support as well, and I need to single out my
"Lieutenant" and his "First Lady" ... Mike & Alice Chep
with all the great "happy snaps" all season and on our
going logistics to keep our crews & boats afloat
all season !
