Surf Snowdonia, Conway COMMERCIAL THE BRIEF Conwy Adventure Leisure Ltd appointed H.H. Smith to undertake the Design and Construction of the Hub Buildings at the Surf Snowdonia facility, currently being developed at Dolgarrog, near Conwy in North Wales. Morgan Civil & Environmental Engineering are undertaking all below ground construction up to and including the ground floor slabs. H.H. Smith will then take the build forward designing and constructing the centre’s Hub Buildings comprising an entrance and reception facility, the retail zone, main restaurant block, kitchen and changing facilities. Additionally, there will also be a Family Activity Building; Camp Site Amenity Building; 2 Surf Shacks, Plant Room and Bin Store. A total of 6 buildings will make up the commercial leisure hub. Such a high profile project requires buildings of a high quality with matching operational facilities. Sustainable considerations are required throughout the build minimising the environmental impact. Works started in January 2015, following intensive project familiarisation and design packages. CONTRACT CHALLENGES Jan 2015 - Jul 2015 On site collaboration with all Civil Engineering Contractors, the multiple design teams, client representatives and other stakeholders is key to the successful management of this project and the successful anticipated completion in July 2015. The exposed location could be a challenge at this time of year.
