DURING MAY
y We will be continuing in our study of the
Gospel of Luke with chapters 11 and 12 this
month. This section covers the sign of Jonah, the
parable of the lighted lamp, the “woes” on the
Pharisees and lawyers, the warning about
hypocrisy, the parable of the rich fool, seeking the
Kingdom of God, the parable of the expectant and
the faithful steward, and the warnings of the true
cost of discipleship and of not discerning the
times.
y Ryan Urbassik and Chris Than-Win will be
starting a series on “The Mind in Scripture.” What
does it mean, why is it important, what are the
different types and states of mind mentioned, what
does it mean to love the Lord with all your mind,
and what does “renewing” of the mind mean?
These are some of the many issues about the
“mind” that will be discussed in this study.
y At the Men’s breakfast on Saturday, May 2 at
8:00 AM, we will be continuing with our study of
personal faithfulness in our lives. This month Abe
Philip will be sharing the meditation on
“Faithfulness in our families.”
y Bro. Rex Trogdon will be sharing at both
meetings on Sunday May 17. Rex and his wife
Nancy were commended to the Lord’s work in
1983 and served the Lord in Zaire (now the DRC)
Africa. He now travels in itinerant and conference
ministries in the USA. They make their home in
Waxhaw, N. C.
y The Women’s Spring Banquet will be held at
the chapel on Friday, May 8 at 6:30 PM. Ladies,
come and join in fellowship and share in
reflections on God’s glory. All female family and
friends are welcome. A sign-up sheet will be
posted soon.
y
The Men’s retreat will be held on Saturday,
May 23 at Sycamore’s Sporting Clays, which is off
Ward’s Corner Road exit from Interstate 275. It will
begin at 9:00 AM and end with lunch at the facility.
Dave Harper from East Freedom Bible Chapel in
Pennsylvania will be the featured speaker, and will
also be sharing at the Bible Hour on Sunday May
24.
y The chapel picnic is scheduled for Saturday,
May 30 at the Sweetgum Slope Shelter in Winton
Woods, which is the same venue as last year.
Activities generally begin around 3:00 PM,
although we have the shelter reserved for the whole
day. A potluck dinner will begin around 5-5:30 PM.
Parking is prepaid for all.
