leaders in Kildare converged
on Newbridge Silverware for
the Chamber Annual Tourism
Business Breakfast with key
note speaker Tim Husbands
MBE, CEO Titanic Belfast.
In attendance were CEO Kildare County Council Peter
Carey, Mayor of Kildare Fiona
O’Loughlin, Adrian Mooney of
The K Club, Gisele Mansfield of
Kildare Village and Liam Holton
of Punchestown Racecourse.
Tim Husbands briefed the
room on how important visitors from the Republic are to Titanic Belfast, in excess of 30 per
cent of its visitors come from
the south. Celebrating its third
birthday this week, the visitor
attraction is now the number
1 visitor attraction in Northern
Ireland. Tim said that its main
focus in the next three years is
increasing its visitors numbers
from Asia and America. “The
Titanic tells a fascinating story,
our main success comes from
knowing our market and making sure our customers leave
with a sense of ownership of
the Titanic and the story it
tells. If there is one thing I want
to get across this morning, it is
that all tourism and destination
providers in Kildare must work
together – work with each other
but also with the state bodies
that are in situ to promote and
enhance your offering.”
William Doyle, MD of Newbridge Silverware who was on
hand to welcome the Chamber
and its guest and the newly
elected President of the Chamber, Vivian Cummins stressed
that by working together we
can all achieve more. “The
Chamber is here to promote,

such as this are of huge
benefit to business and I am
delighted to see so many attend our first event in Newbridge Silverware.”
Allan Shine, CEO of the
Chamber told Kildare Post:
“The Chamber is the largest
business organisation in the
county, representing over
340 businesses. The Tourism and Hospitality sector
in Kildare is a growing sector. By having keynote speakers such as Tim Husbands
address our members is extremely important. Hosting
such an event in conjunction
with Newbridge Silverware
is paramount to what we are
looking to achieve as a business organisation.”
Shine concluded by saying
“As we move into the second
quarter of the year, we are
getting reading for our next
series of events – our Meet
the Buyer Expo is in April, followed by our Annual Summer
Business Expo and we are at
planning stage for our first
trade visit to New York. The
positivity within all sectors of
business is very evident and
the Chamber will continue to
provide the events and services that the membership require.”
