Rules
1. Maximum of 8 per team with only 6 on the rope at each pull.
2. No gloves please - bare hands only, no spikes or studded shoes.
3. Teams will toss for ends.
4. The referee will ask both teams if they are ‘ready’ and then ask teams
to ‘pick up the rope’, followed by the instruction to ‘take the strain’.
5. No locking of the rope, using a palm grip only. The rope is to be
held taut at waist level until the referee’s start signal.
6. Only the anchor can keep the rope below belt height for safety
reasons.
7. The referee will signal ‘steady’ followed by ‘pull’.

1. There should be no sitting, touching the ground other than with
feet, changing the level of the rope, no passing the rope between
hands (‘climbing’), rowing (quickly sitting on the ground between
rhythmic pulling), or other un-gentlemanly conduct.
2. Infringements will be noted by ‘first caution’ and ‘final caution’
followed by disqualification. Infringement by both teams may lead
to a no pull being declared.

1. The winning team will pull the marker tape over the centre point,
without disqualification through infringement as determined by
the referee.
2. Teams will compete for a best of 3, with a short break between
pulls and a change of ends.
