30 hours per week, May to October 2015
Not Far From The Tree, a project of Tides Canada Initiatives Society, puts Toronto’s abundance of local fruit to good use
by picking and sharing the bounty. Not Far From The Tree builds community, fosters environmental sustainability and
enables equitable access to an existing supply of healthy, local food.
Position Summary: The Pilot Program Coordinator will work with project staff to test and develop new activities related
to Not Far From The Tree’s fruit picking and sharing program that focus on deepening engagement and improving
scalability. The Pilot Program Coordinator’s work will focus on one Toronto city ward : Ward 30 – Toronto-Danforth.
Please note that the availability of this position is dependent on funding still to be confirmed.
Term: Early May to October 2015
Location: Toronto, ON
Salary: $17-$19/hour, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:
 Refine and implement pilot program plan
 Train, support and work closely with lead volunteers in the pilot ward
 Oversee fruit picking activities ensuring communications and operations run smoothly
 Build relationships with community stakeholders (including tree owners, donors and partners)
 Develop community engagement materials
 Oversee community engagement and outreach activities
 Assist with the implementation of fund development activities
Qualifications:
 Excellent written and verbal communications skills
 Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for working with people and building community
 Self-motivated and organized with the ability to manage time effectively
 Experience with community organizing, volunteer or team management or a related field
 Experience and skills in fundraising and/or sales and marketing a big asset
