NVS, Email and Powerschool Basics

NESA Virtual School
You can access NESA Virtual School (NVS) from several places:
 From the main portal page at http://google.asd.edu.qa by selecting it from the
menu on the left side of the window;
 directly, by entering http://nvs.asd.edu.qa into your browser;
 by choosing ASD Student Learning Portal from the QUICK LINKS on the ASD
school webpage http://www.asd.edu.qa .
They all end up in the same place - the main NVS login page (see below).
Next, you should enter the following information into the boxes:
Username: last two digits of student graduation year + first initial +last name
Password: 12345678
Then, click on the Login button.
Once you have successfully logged in you should see a listing of your child’s classes. There
will be extra boxes at the side of the main content on this page. Other resources are
available from these boxes.

When you click on a class you will see the resources and activities that the teacher has
prepared.
On the left-hand side of the screen is a box containing links to the content of the course you
have chosen. You may also see boxes on the right-hand side of the screen. These contain
other information such as messages posted by the teacher.
There are 2 buttons in the top right-hand corner of each box. You can click on these to hide
the content of the box, or to replace the box with a tab at the side of the screen.
As you scroll down the page, depending on how your teacher has arranged the site, you will
see topics (indicated by a number on the left side of the box) or weeks (with dates)
containing information for you and/or your child.
Many teachers in Lower Elementary have created their pages with the aim of making it as
easy as possible for you to find the following information for their course: newsletters,
websites, curricular activities, information and photos. When available any of these areas
can be accessed immediately by clicking on the icons that you will see at the top of the page.

ASD Google Mail
You can access ASD Gmail from either the ASD portal page: http://google.asd.edu.qa or
through the NVS page: http://nvs.asd.edu.qa After logging in you will see the Google Mail
option in the Google Apps box in the sidebar.
Once you have opened your Google Mail
account you should be able to read emails,
reply etc. the same as with most other
webmail programs.

Powerschool
Powerschool contains information about the students that isn’t available anywhere else.
You can get to it from the ASD portal page or directly at:
http://powerschool.asd.edu.qa/public/ using the username and
password that were sent to you via email.
The information available in Powerschool is different in Lower
Elementary than in the Upper, Middle or High schools.
