Dear New York Peer Specialist Candidate:
The New York Peer Specialist Certification Board is pleased to announce that we are in the
process of revising the application for the NY Peer Specialist Certification to create a
streamlined process that will encourage more candidates to apply.
The revised application will reflect our decision to offer all applicants the opportunity to
become Provisional Certified Peer Specialists. With a large number of applicants who want their
certification to coincide with the start-up of managed care and new certification requirements
from the New York State Office of Mental Health, we made this decision to expedite the
application process and make it as efficient as possible. All Provisional Certified Peer Specialists
will have the opportunity to have their certification become permanent in the near future.
The New York Peer Specialist Certification Board is aware of the high demand for this
certification. For that reason, we are committed to offering a newly revised and efficient
application for interested candidates in Mid-May.
If you have already applied for certification using our original application, there is no need to
re-submit it; we will process the application you have already submitted. Please call us with any
