The NYSA-ILA hiring plan status is outlined in the chart above. Steps in the plan include:
· Tri-Partite Committee, with representatives from NYSA, the ILA and Employers, interviews candidates from three pools (Veterans, ILA & NYSA).
During the interview, candidates are scored using a matrix.
· Candidates with scores above an established threshold are scheduled to submit an application with the Waterfront Commission for pre-qualification.
· Candidates that are pre-qualified by the Commission, satisfactoraly complete a physical exam, and have obtained a TWIC, may then be” Certified” by letter
to the Commission, requesting that they issue registrations for these individuals. Certified individuals complete an application for registration at the
Commission, are issued a registration, attend a New Employee Orientation and are then able to work.
