* * SANDRA THOMSON * *
**Sandra Thomson** Extremely talented FIDDLER will be onstage with Twin Rivers Band
and rarking it up on her fiddle. Recently Sandra has played with MARION BURNS and
some of Marion is sure to have rubbed off on Sandra. Sandra last played at our Hoedown
two years ago and was very popular in a duos with Jim Stevens in Dueling Banjos & more.
A PRACTICE with Sandra will be at "Senior Citz Hall " from 1pm to 4pm Saturday 6th
Sandra is travelling from Hamilton to be with us so be sure to give her a "big hand" :)
Spot light Artist * * SHARON HONATANA * *
**Sharon Honatana** knows how to make an audience feel good with popular songs and
on-stage personality. Sharon has been coming from Kawerau (with Al.) to practice nights
and will be singing some new-old songs at our Hoedown, so come along and be sure to be
entertained by this lovely lady who woed the crowd at the last Whakatane Club Day with
Don Rangitawa and Allan Rua. Sharon nearly had Don dancing on stage, nice one Sharon ;)
HOE-DOWN PRODUCE RAFFLES >> FRESH & DRY >>
Our raffle coordinator Sheryl Waters asks can members bring along a can or can can ... a packet of
what what... a bag of you-pick, a home preserve jam etc for a Dry Produce Raffle and on
the Club- Performance day bring something from the garden for a Fresh Produce Raffle.
Dry goods can be brought beforehand and Sheryl says give them to Chris at practice

Last Club Day on the 3rd of May; theme was "Family" yeah well this was a pretty good

audience was thrilled with your singing Max, "great job", ... proving it's never too late :)
And wow our new singer Katrina Nicol is improving out of sight. Congrats to you Katrina.
Cat's got Ed's tongue so that's all E has to say ... "would'ee" 'ave writers' "block", dang?

The Orchard Charity Concert : a contribution by Shirley ... (thanks Shirl)
"We had a very late night Sat. Night as AR & I went over to Te Puke for their Charity
Concert. We got home at approx 12.30 AM Sunday & got to bed a little later after a nice
hot drink. We enjoyed the show to a degree but felt that, although the band was
excellent, they played so loud that in many cases, one could hardly hear the artist
singing, or performing with their own instrument, which I thought, spoilt the show. My
darling came home with a thumping headache & said he wont be going over there to any
more shows in the future !! Sad isn't it.?? From what we could hear & see of the Artists,
they were all very good !! "
Footnote: .... Ed. was at the last Whakatane Club day and while chatting at smoko was
told that a bus load of 22 from Whakatane Club and friends also went to the "Orchard"
Concert and told of the same complaint... they couldn't really hear the singers.. Another
case of "TheTail Wagging the Dog" ? Are not the band there to "enhance" the singers?
.....................................................................................................................................................................................
