Easter Revision Sessions There are a number of revision sessions taking place over the Easter period for students in Years 11, 12 and 13. It is important that students attend these, as they will receive vital support in preparation for forthcoming examinations. S Wilks Headteacher Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge On 18th March, Ibtisam Awow represented our school in the Redbridge Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge held at Mayfield School. There were fifteen participants and Ibtisam’s speech came third. Those who saw Ibtisam's speech yesterday or in assembly could see that it was a resounding success. It is a testimony to someone who can speak with conviction, power and spirit. My wishes and love go to Ibtisam as I know that this girl has far to go. And we had the best and noisiest supporters! It was a great day and the girls made amazing progress making excellent carries and hitting some hard tackles. The girls were a credit to the school and deservedly won an award for their teamwork shown throughout the day, particularly in their support play and great offloads. Players of the tournament were Bethany Smith for her breakaway tries and Tasfia Hannan for her great tackling. The girls put on yet another great team performance but unfortunately did not qualify for the final next week. This is however a real achievement for the girls who have only been training for a few weeks and put up a good fight against well established schools. They now have their eyes on the summer season! We all met promptly at Newbury Park for the short journey to Leyton and soon found ourselves sitting in our seats waiting for the game to begin. It was an exciting game with lots of shots on goal, missed opportunities and a red card. Half time saw Year 7 rushing to get more food and drink before returning to their seats for the final half. It all came to an end with a 0-0 score but everyone had thoroughly enjoyed the game. All the students were a real credit to OPHS, so well done to them and a big thank you to Howard Gould at Leyton Orient for arranging the tickets via Mrs Smith for us. Hopefully we can have more in the future. Mrs Corton/Mr Corton O4AKS P ARK H IGH S CHOOL , O AKS L ANE , N EWBURY P ARK , I LFORD E SSEX IG2 7PQ TEL:020 8590 2245 FAX: 020 8590 2246 W EBSITE : WWW .
