TERM 1 WEEK 8
It has been a busy week in Cranbrook Rugby with Senior School teams preparing for their first
trial fixture against St Pius. This preparation has included team trainings and specialist scrum
training from former Wallabies Assistant Coach Jim Williams.
At the other end of the program, Thursday afternoon will see a visit by some Waratahs to Dangar
to kick off the Year 1 and 2 rugby program. The second part of this rugby program will see around
70 boys and parents attend a lunch and the Waratahs v Brumbies fixture on Sunday (all thanks for
the support of the Cranbrook Rugby Club). Sunday also sees the Old Boys Touch Gala day at
Hordern with two teams representing the school. Reports from all events will follow in next
week’s Running Lines.
Team selections are listed below but please note these will always be draft teams and may change
between publication and kick off due to injury or illness. Additionally, grading up to 85 boys after
only three training sessions is not an easy task and coaches have done their best with a limited
preparation. Teams are very fluid at this stage of the season with Saturday more an opportunity to
give the boys a hit out before the holidays rather than cement boys in teams. Boys will, in time,
end up in the team they deserve to be in and should look to enjoy the first game of the season and
show their skill level to the coaches.

Rugby Handbook
The 2015 Rugby Handbook is now available for viewing on Cranbrook Connect. This
document is the first port of call for any questions regarding Cranbrook Rugby. It outlines
things such as training and playing uniforms, protective equipment, 1st XV support as well as
highlighting all Cranbrook 1st XV Captains and those Cranbrookians that have gone on to
represent the country at Schoolboy and Wallaby level. The second half of the handbook is a
High Performance Manual which is a must read for all players as they prepare for the season
ahead.
Rugby Refereeing
Are you an ex-player? Do you want to stay involved in the game? Would you like to have a
run around on Saturday mornings throughout the season? Have you done any refereeing
before? Do you look good in shorts, wear white laces and like blowing a whistle? Do you
say ‘laws’ rather than ‘rules’?
If you answer ‘yes’ to some or all of these questions, please contact our referee-in chief and
Davidson Housemaster, Jonathan Cumberlege - [email protected] , to
discuss the possibility of refereeing some of Cranbrook’s home matches this season.

Junior School Rugby Launch
The invitation to the Cranbrook Junior School Rugby Launch BBQ is now on Cranbrook
Connect. It is being held Friday 27th March after Junior School sport at Dangar with all boys
and parents welcome.
Junior School Rugby Camp
A flyer has been added to the Holiday Camp section of Cranbrook Connect outlining details
of the upcoming Junior School camp. Dates are from Tuesday 7 April to Friday 10 April.
