Algonquin College Scholarship
Important Information for Applicant

What is the Algonquin Scholarship?
Each year, the OCH Foundation offers one $7,500 scholarship to an Ottawa Community Housing Tenant who is enrolled full-time, has
applied or intends to apply to the Culinary Arts Management program within the School of Hospitality at Algonquin College. It is the
Foundation’s largest and most prestigious scholarship.
To be eligible the applicant must be:
1.
A current tenant of Ottawa Community Housing Corporation.
2.
Must be a proven leader and an active volunteer in his or her community and will act as a role model to other tenants
within Ottawa Community Housing
3.
Currently enrolled, have applied or intend to apply to the Culinary Management Program within the School of Hospitality at
Algonquin College. Studies must begin between September 2015 and January 2016.
How to apply?
Fill out and drop off or mail the application form with all sections completed to any OCH office to the attention of: Christa Allevato,
OCH Foundation c/o Algonquin College Scholarship or email the documents to [email protected]

The application deadline is Friday May 15 , 2015 at 4:30 p.m.
All applications must be received in an OCH office by 4:30 p.m. or be postmarked no later than May 15, 2015.
How will the scholarship be awarded?
A committee made up of the Founder of the Ottawa Food Truck Rally, OCH Foundation Board Member, OCH Foundation
Director and the OCH Foundation Development Coordinator will select the scholarship recipient based on the following:

Applicant’s educational and/or life goals (as indicated in their essay)
•
Applicant’s involvement in the community (as indicated in their essay and reference letters)
•
Full completion of the application form and supporting documents
•
Currently be enrolled, have applied or intend to apply to the two year Culinary Management Program within the School of Hospitality
at Algonquin College. Studies must begin between September 2015 and January 2016

All applicants will be notified of the status of their application by June 15 , 2015. The successful applicant will be required
to provide proof of enrollment prior to receiving confirmation of scholarship.
