Grant Application Process

Grant Application Process
The OCPM Foundation Board is committed to providing grant funds for research and
teaching projects that enhances the future of podiatric medical education. The OCPM
Foundation will award grant money up to an annual aggregate of $1,000,000 for all grants
funded. Individual requests may be made for amounts up to $250,000.
Prior to consideration of any application, a Letter of Intent, "LOI", of no more than three
pages is to be submitted outlining the application, its importance to podiatric education,
related parties, budget summary, research plan if appropriate, etc. LOI's may be
submitted at any time.
There are appropriate restrictions on all requests: they must fit within our purposes and
guidelines; they must be relevant to podiatric medical education; and they must be part of
an IRS approved not for profit organization [501 (c) 3 or 501 (c) 6] with verification. Any
501 (c) 6 organizations may not use awarded funds for any function related to lobbying
activities, or for any purpose other than those for which the funds were specifically
designated.
Staff will review the letter of intent to determine whether the project meets our criteria. If
so, within 30 days of the date of receipt, the primary contact will be informed as to the
suitability of the program, and to proceed with the submission of an application. The LOI
is to be submitted via email to:
Dr. David R. Nicolanti

Corporate Secretary

After being advised that an application may be submitted, applications need to be
completed in full and have all requested material attached. Grant recipients may be
required to submit periodic reports on the use of the funds, and the progress of the project
to the OCPM Foundation Board. All recipients need to submit a final report on the results
of the project, and expenditure of funds, within 120 days after the end of the grant period.
Normally, grants are awarded for no more than a one year period.
The grant application form is available online at www.OCPMFoundation.org.
Applications will be reviewed by board members who will make recommendations to the
full OCPM Foundation Board. Grants will be made to projects deemed to have the
highest potential impact on podiatric medical education.
Applications need to be submitted at least 45 days before a scheduled board meeting for
consideration at that meeting. They should be submitted to David R. Nicolanti at
[email protected] and copied to Lori J. Albert at [email protected]. The primary contact will
be advised of the board decision within 60 days of the board meeting.
