Oregon-Davis School Corporation Visit us online at www.od.k12.in.us NURSE’S NOTES Immunization Requirements for 2015-2016: Students entering 6th grade in 2015-2016 school year will need the following immunizations: 1 Tdap, 1 Meningococcal. Students entering 12th grade in 2015-2016 school year are required to have a Meningococcal booster. Please plan accordingly and schedule an appointment. These immunizations will be required at registration in the fall. REMINDER The Oregon-Davis school does not supply any over-the-counter medications for students. If your student needs tylenol/ibuprofen, it must be supplied by parent with a signed note. The medication also needs to be brought to school by a parent. KOONTZ LAKE FIRE DEPT. The Koontz Lake Fire Dept. is taking applications for volunteer firefighters. With becoming a volunteer firefighter you will learn the basics of firefighting and the basics of being a first responder “Medical Calls.” Along with a learning experience in public service, being a volunteer helps the community and gives a person the experience of a lifetime. Anyone interested must meet the following criteria: Must be 16 yrs. old, Must have passing grades, Must live in Oregon Twp., Must have a valid driver’s license, Must be able to complete and pass basic firefighting training. Anyone interested in an application should call 574-586-2288 and leave a message, or leave your name with the receptionist at the school. KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UP If your child will be five on or before August 1, 2015, please plan to attend the Kindergarten Round-Up to be enrolled in Kindergarten for the 2015-2016 school Year. Round-Up will take place at the Elementary School on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm. Parents please bring child’s official birth certificate and child’s immunization records. It is very important your child attend round-up with you. The Kindergarten teachers will be conducting a basic skills assessment with each child. Please call the Oregon-Davis Elementary School 574-867-2711 to schedule an appointment before April 15 or if you have any questions concerning kindergarten. We will also be registering children for preschool at this time. There is no sign-up before April 15th for preschool. A child is eligible to attend preschool if he or she is 4 or 5 years old and will be entering kindergarten during the 2016-2017 or 2017-2018 school year. Preschool has a limited number of openings and is filled on a first-come, first serve basis. There is a fee for children to attend preschool. Parents of preschool children are also to bring birth certificate and immunization record when they come to register. FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT The Junior Parents will be hosting Movie Night on Friday, April 17th in the Elementary Gym. Cost is $1.00 a person. The name of the movie is Night of the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. Rated PG. The stars are: Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect 1 and 2) Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Rachael Harris, Ricky Gervais. Concessions and glow items will be available. All proceeds for this event will go to the Junior After Prom Committee. Your support is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU! FRIDAY DISMISSALS Remember Friday dismissal is earlier than the rest of the week. Elementary will dismiss at 1:50 and Jr.-Sr. High School will dismiss at 2:05 PARENTS!! Parents, please call the office with transportation changes no later than 1:00 pm when possible. DISMISSAL TIME FOR 2ND SEMESTER K-3 students board the buses at 2:25 PM, and 4th-6th grade students board buses at 2:28 PM. Buses will leave the elementary by 2:30 PM. ELEMENTARY YEARBOOKS We still have 2013-2014 Elementary Yearbooks for sale!! You may purchase them at the office. Cost is $10 each. NEW CLASS COMPETITION The elementary is collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Indiana. The winning class that brings in the most pop tabs will get to enjoy McDonalds served to them at the school. Please send the pop tabs to school in ziploc bags. Contest will end on May 15 ELEMENTARY LOST & FOUND Have you lost your sweatshirt or coat? The elementary lost and found is located just inside the main entrance. Please look for any lost items. Items will be donated to the Kid’s Closet at the end of March. CAPS FOR KIDS We are half way to our goal of 3 plastic recycled benches for the elementary school. Our last contest has begun and will continue until we have a total of 1200 pounds of plastic caps. All plastic caps are accepted. Students can bring in caps to their classroom teacher and the class who brings in the most pounds of caps will receive a prize. KLA EASTER EGG HUNT The Koontz Lake Association will hold their Easter Egg Hunt at the Lions Park in Koontz Lake on Saturday, April 4th for children ages 1 12 years old at 12:00 noon central standard time. OREGON-DAVIS SUMMER LEAGUE SIGN UPS Koontz Lake Fire Dept. March 22nd @ 12 pm - 2 pm CST Cooper Field, Hamlet April 19th @ 10 am - 12 pm RENAISSANCE BASEBALL CAP DAY Renaissance Baseball Cap Day, Friday, April 3rd - Jr./Sr. High Students can wear a Baseball Cap for $1.00. All proceeds go to Renaissance Program. OREGON TOWNSHIP TRAILBLAZERS Oregon Township Trailblazers 4H Club will have their next meeting Saturday, April 18 at the Koontz Lake Clubhouse from 10:00 to 11:00 CST.
