Media Release - OHSA appeals for information

PRESS RELEASE
OHSA APPEALS FOR INFORMATION ABOUT LOCATION OF PLACE
WHERE DANGEROUS WORK ACTIVITY IS REPUTEDLY BEING CARRIED
OUT
20 April 2015
The Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) refers to the video showing a person working in
an unsafe manner which was posted on Facebook by a certain Ms. Martina Torres. (link:
https://www.facebook.com/martina.torres12e/videos/vb.100000237302882/1014417741909460/?type=2
&theater). Allegedly the video shows a man working on a suspended working platform in what looks like
a shaft of a block of apartments and allegedly shows work that has been going on for the past days
OHSA has requested Ms. Torres to provide details of the location where the video was taken.
Unfortunately no reply has been forthcoming. OHSA has also alerted the Police about the matter;
however, the site in question remains unidentified.
OHSA expresses concern at the indifferent and irresponsible attitude shown by some people at this gross
disrespect to health and safety by which a worker is being allowed to work in such a serious danger to his
life without alerting the relevant authorities. This is shown through a comment posted on the same
facebook page which solicited free drinks if the video reaches 100,000 views.
In view of this, OHSA is appealing to the general public to assist it in locating the exact address of the
site in question so as to take immediate action.
OHSA can be contacted on 21247677 during office hours or on 99496786 after office hours.
