Body and Blood of Christ
June 7th, 2015
Religious Education
I have been involved in Religious Education for 8
years both teaching and as Director. When I was
first approached to take over running the program
I wasn’t sure if I wanted such a huge
responsibility. But you know when God puts
something in your heart that you are meant to do,
he makes it very hard to say no. So I prayed about
it and in the days following, that’s all I thought
about and every time I did, I became more
confident that I was meant to take this on and
before I knew it I was filled with such a passion to
do this job that I was awe struck. God is amazing!
He never asks more of you than you can handle.
This is something I have learned over the years
and sometimes they were hard lessons.
This has been such a fulfilling experience, it has
not always been easy and sometimes very
frustrating but what I have received has touched
my life in more ways than I can count. The
children are our future and we have been given
this incredible opportunity to give our children
the gift of their faith, just like it was given to us.
What a blessing our Lord is!

In the 5yrs I have been Director of Religious
Education I have been blessed with amazing
teachers. Their commitment to the children has
been awesome. They took time each week out of
their busy schedules to prepare each lesson and
came every Sunday ready to teach. They have
made my job that much easier and I have gotten to
know each one of them and they are beautiful
people. Thank YOU!
Each year there is a need to fill in spaces for
teachers who cannot return. I ask that if you feel
like you might be interested in teaching, approach
me. You do not need to have a child in Religious
Education to be a teacher.
I want to thank Lynne Partridge who has taught
the Confirmation Class and has lovingly made sure
that her students were fully prepared for this
sacrament. She will not be returning to teach next
year and I will miss her. Thank you Lynne.
To quote one of my favourite songs….
“He calls me chosen, free forgiven, wanted, child
of the King, His forever, held and treasured...
I am Loved”
God Bless!

Confirmation
We would like to congratulate Drew Batchilder,
Jenna Mitchell, Roan Partridge & Sean Stewart on
receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. Thank you
as well to their parents for taking them each week
and helping them to grow in their faith. May the gifts
of the Holy Spirit burn brightly within you always.
Thank you to Lynne Partridge for generously sharing
her time and making sure her students understood
what they were learning for the past 6 years. Thank
you to the Hospitality Committee for organizing and
hosting the reception.
SCENT FREE
As previously mentioned we are trying to make our
environment here at the Church and for any events
in the hall completely scent free. We have some
people who have extreme allergies to scents. One
person in particular who asked to have her name
mentioned is Lorraine Power. Strong scents can
trigger her to have seizures, which is what happened
to her this past Saturday. Please pass this message
on to anyone you know who goes to our church but
might have missed mass. This is a serious health
issue for Lorraine and also an issue for those who
have allergies, we appreciate everyone’s
cooperation. Thank You.
Man Cave
The next gathering will be this coming Wednesday,
June 10th, at 7:00 pm. All men are welcome to join
us in the Conference Room. For information, please
contact Kevin Harvey (902) 483-5150
Thank You
To everyone who attended the Archdiocese
Assembly of the People of God this weekend in the
city.
Preserving Bottles
Our resident Jam maker donates approximately 100
bottles of jam a year for our fund raisers. The biggest
cost to her is buying the bottles. If we could return
the size she uses it would help with expenses. A
container is in the back of the Church which is a
sample size of the bottle. Thank You
Steubenville
If there are any students in Level’s 8 & 9
interested in attending Steubenville please contact
the office.

Personal Profile of Lynne Partridge
Our 2015 Confirmandi — Drew Batchilder, Jenna
Mitchell, Roan Partridge and Sean Stewart — have
completed nine years of religious education and
are ready and eager to accept the Sacrament of
Confirmation, becoming full members of our parish.
I have been their teacher for the past seven years.
Our journey as a group began years ago with my
conscience telling me I was obliged to give something
back to our parish's Religious Education program.
So, I volunteered to teach my son's Level 3 class.
I was a little leery of the notion. It was a big time
commitment and our parish didn't have an
established program to follow. I realized the
commitment was no more than I was asking my
son, Roan, to make, so that really wasn't a valid
impediment. The parish priest at the time indicated
teachers should focus on the mass, the importance
of prayer and the 10 Commandments, so an agenda
of sorts was set.
The end of the year came. We had covered the
assigned topics and explored other areas of interest
we had decided upon as group. We had a lot of fun
and had learned to work together. It was time for
them to move on. I was surprised at how much I
would miss them. Their energy and enthusiasm was
infectious and I was seeing my faith anew through
their eyes.
Looking back, I now believe it wasn't my conscience
prodding me at all; it was my guardian angel guiding
me onto a path I was meant to follow, one which
would enrich my life immensely. Jesus Christ was an
incredibly gifted teacher. Never before has being a
Christian brought me such a deep and lasting
satisfaction
as following in his footsteps as a teacher.
Drew, Jenna, Roan and Sean have astounded and
sometimes confounded me with their insights and
questions. They have a deep interest in their faith
and particularly in how to apply the precepts of that
faith in their daily lives. I've relearned things I had
forgotten and explored new areas.
So, thank you Drew, Jenna, Roan and Sean for allowing
me to share your journey. I'm so proud of you all. You've
grown into fine young men and women with open
hands, open hearts and open minds ready to both give
and receive. Thank you also to Susan and Andy
Bathchilder, Sherry and Mark Mitchell, Ken Partridge,
and Debbie and Roy Stewart for all your support and
interest over the years. We couldn't have honored our
commitment to each other without you.
God bless you all,
Lynne Partridge
The opportunity was there for me to move with
them to the next level. When I asked them if they
wanted a new teacher, or if I should move with
them, they clearly stated they wanted us ALL to
move forward. Right then and there we struck a deal.
If they would stick with me, I would stick with them
through six more years of classes until they were
Confirmed. That was a HUGE commitment for all of
us, one we've all honored.
